A year ago, Saidu was running and playing sports on prosthetic legs.

Today, he doesn’t have access to them.

Thanks to Mobility Worldwide - Sierra Leone, Mobility Worldwide - Columbia, MO, and the Polio Persons Development Association (PoPDA), he’s headed back to school on a Mobility Cart.

18 years old. Senior in high school. Soccer player. Excellent student.

Now his life is moving forward on four wheels.

Delivery day in Kono, Sierra Leone!

Through the efforts of Mobility Worldwide - Sierra Leone and dedicated partners, 60 mobility devices were distributed to individuals and families who have been waiting for the opportunity to move more independently.

This distribution included 20 wheelchairs, 20 Mobility Carts, 10 armpit crutches, and 10 elbow crutches.

We are grateful for the longstanding partnership of VRDUR Foundation and for the Mobility Carts provided by Mobility Worldwide - Columbia, MO, which helped make this distribution possible.

Many came seeking mobility support on Bonthe Island.

For some, it was the first time they had ever seen or used an assistive device.

With support from Mobility Worldwide, Mobility Worldwide – Columbia, MO, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Sierra Leone, Mobility Worldwide in Sierra Leone distributed Mobility Carts and crutches to individuals across the island. But even after a successful outreach, the need remains far greater than the devices available.

Too many people are still waiting for the chance to move more freely, work, care for their families, and participate in daily life with greater independence.

It truly takes a village, and we’re grateful for every partner, volunteer, donor, and supporter helping make this work possible.

At 88 years old, Nick still shows up to serve with a smile.

A former U.S. Marine, Nick has been volunteering with Mobility Worldwide – Stow, Ohio since 2013, where he’s known around the shop as the primary “painter.

Over the years, his faithful service has helped prepare countless hand-powered Mobility Carts that will one day change someone’s daily life across the world.

Nick is also a proud father of three, grandfather of four, and great-grandfather of two. Around the shop, there’s no question he truly has a Heart for Carts.

Thank you, Nick!

For years, Mariama’s mother carried her to school on her back. She carried her every morning, every afternoon, and in every kind of weather.

Mariama is 9 years old and has cerebral palsy. Getting to class meant depending completely on her mother.

But now she has a mobility cart of her own.

She’ll roll into school. Her mother will walk beside her. And both of them will arrive a little lighter.

This is what changes when just one child gets what they need.

Not every road is paved.

Many traditional wheelchairs are designed for smooth surfaces. But for someone traveling long distances on dirt roads or uneven ground, those conditions can make mobility difficult.

That’s why Mobility Carts exist.

With hand-powered movement and rugged tires, Mobility Carts are designed for places where traditional wheelchairs often aren’t practical, helping children get to school, parents return to work, and families move through their communities with greater independence.
