Waterfowl Heritage Funds (WHF) allow Delta Waterfowl’s volunteer-led chapters to keep and reinvest up to 15% of their net banquet proceeds right in their own communities. Those dollars support grassroots conservation projects, youth hunting opportunities, habitat improvements and other needs identified by the people who hunt and live there.
Delta volunteers with Greater Longview Chapter, Smith County Chapter, Anderson County Chapter, and Deep East TX Chapters recently put their WHF dollars to work by purchasing a Can-Am for Texas Parks and Wildlife staff working on the Trinity River Wildlife Management Area — a major destination for ducks and duck hunters in the region. The WMA lacked the funds to acquire this important conservation tool, and the chapter was there to bridge the gap.
With mud on the tires and dust on the dash, the new machine is already helping TPWD staff reach areas that were difficult to access and take on more habitat and management work across the WMA.
That means better access for the staff doing the work, more attention on habitat and management projects and, ultimately, a better experience for all who use the area.
Across North America, Delta chapters put WHF dollars to work through projects like wood duck boxes, boat-ramp cleanups, youth hunting opportunities, scholarships, habitat improvements and more.
