A little chit chat. As we start our busy season.
Breathe, Smile it’s worth it, cry if you feel like it, never give up and always know YOU ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE! 🫶🏽

A LOT goes into the magic of Christmas, and not all of it happens behind a Christmas tree.
As Santa’s sidekicks, or as we like to call ourselves, his elves, we spend countless hours working behind the scenes to make Christmas happen for children in our community.
As our season of giving approaches, there’s a lot running through our minds. Did we choose the right toys? Will each child feel special? Did we do enough? Because behind every application is a child, and we want every single one of them to have a reason to smile.
The reality is, we can’t always provide exactly what someone hopes for. We have guidelines we must follow, decisions we have to make, and sometimes difficult conversations that come with the territory. Not everyone will agree with every decision, and unfortunately, not every interaction will be a pleasant one.
But this work has never been about making everyone happy. It’s about serving children, following the guidelines, being responsible with the resources entrusted to us, and doing the very best we can with what we have.
I can’t promise perfection. I can promise dedication. I read every application, consider each child’s needs, and put my heart into making the best decisions possible. There is so much thought, time, and care that goes into this work that most people will never see.
To my fellow elves and everyone who gives their time to make this happen: Don’t let a difficult interaction make you forget the difference you’re making. For every discouraging moment, there are children whose faces light up, families who are grateful, and people in our community who believe in what we do.
We can’t control how everyone responds, but we can control how we show up. We can lead with compassion, stand by our guidelines, treat people with dignity, and keep our focus where it belongs — on the children.
And as coordinator, I’ll keep pushing to make Toys for Tots about more than Christmas. Children have needs all year long, and our commitment to our community shouldn’t end when the decorations come down.
Because needs aren’t seasonal, and neither is Toys for Tots!
Let’s keep doing the work, supporting one another, and bringing a little more magic to Pickens County.
Don’t let one difficult moment overshadow the difference you make in a thousand others.
