Come to Cowell, Arkansas this weekend 🍀
On April 17th, arrive to Cowell at your leisure; browse Mountain Project for instructions, peep the coordinates in this post. Camping is along the top of the Invasion Wall cliff. It’s free in the backwoods, and we’ll mark the spot with a KCCC banner. It’s not difficult to find; just keep an eye out for lots of cars parked on the road, the KC Climbing Community banner, and campsites. You can drive or walk into the forest to find a spot. Just pack water and pack out your waste.
Meet up with us at the banner for a more guided experience on Saturday morning. We have bouldering pads and ropes, so no worries if you don’t have all the gear. Cowell has 140+ boulders and sport climbs and it’s iconic. I challenge y’all to try something new- if you’ve never bouldered or sport climbed outside, this place is a playground. There are equal numbers of boulders and sports routes!
Meet up that night at the banner for a taco potluck and much laughter. We will provide meat and vegetarian options. Bring toppings to share and your own dishes. We will also have a raffle featuring prizes from and more.
On April 19th, climb and leave whenever you like!
Common q’s:
What if I don’t know anyone? You’re so welcome- you’ll leave knowing a lovely group of people. It won’t be the same without you. Tap through this post to see some of the faces that are here to meet you.
What skill level should I be at? It’s awesome if you know how to belay or have a pair of climbing shoes (if not, please hit us up for assistance), but beginners and experts are all welcome. If you don’t know how to lead and want to sport climb, make a friend and bring some snacks and we’ll set top ropes. We’ll bring some bouldering pads.
I need to carpool! Peep the link in the bio for a spreadsheet to find a homie.
What routes are there? Download Mountain Project and load it up. KCCC will have a guidebook on deck. But honestly— just get on anything that looks fun and enjoy the process :)
Are dogs allowed? Yes, but keep in mind other climbers are bringing their dogs. Please ensure your dog tolerates other dogs well.
