Great Job, Officer Sanovich!! We are lucky to have you as the liaison officer on our board!
🎉 Please join us in congratulating Officer Joseph Sanovich! 🎉
Earlier this week, Officer Sanovich received a Chief’s Commendation from Chief Pearson for going above and beyond to ensure our annual Shop with a Cop event could be held in December of 2025.
Less than thirty days before the annual Shop with a Cop event, Officer Sanovich was notified by our long-standing local business partner that they would no longer be able to financially support the event. This business had supported Shop with a Cop for more than a decade, and the sudden loss of funding placed the event in serious jeopardy.
Officer Sanovich proactively reached out to multiple businesses capable of hosting and financially supporting the event. Due to the late notice and fiscal year budget constraints, these organizations were unable to take on a new financial obligation at that time.
Rather than allowing the event to be canceled, Officer Sanovich recognized the significant impact Shop with a Cop has on the lives of the children selected to participate. With less than two weeks remaining, Officer Sanovich shifted focus to securing donations and alternative support to ensure the event could move forward. Through his determination and persistence, he successfully identified a new business partner willing to host the event and raised over $5,000 to fund it.
On December 16th, the Janesville Police Department proudly held its annual Shop with a Cop event at Target. Twenty-four children participated, with each child receiving $200 to purchase Christmas gifts for themselves and their families.
Officer Sanovich’s relentless dedication, problem-solving ability, and unwavering commitment to the community ensured the success of this meaningful event. Officer Sanovich’s actions exemplify the highest standards of service and reflect great credit upon himself, the Janesville Police Department, and the community he serves.
👏 Thank you, Officer Sanovich, for your dedication, perseverance, and heart for service. This is what community policing at its best looks like.
