🚲🎬 Community, connection, and a shared vision for a better Jacksonville!

Bike Walk Jax was proud to participate in a special showing of The Engine Inside, followed by an inspiring panel discussion featuring the City of Jacksonville, Florida Transportation Planning Division, North Florida TPO, SPAR (Historic Springfield), northsidepridejax , and moderated by Ron Rothberg of Art Bikes Jax.

It was incredible to see so many members and organizations from Jacksonville’s bicycle community come together to share ideas, perspectives, and a vision for a more connected and bikeable city. 💙💛

We’re excited about the momentum building around active transportation in Jacksonville and look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together in the years ahead.

Join Bike Walk Jax on Saturday, August 1, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The Avenues Mall for a fun, free family event focused on keeping our community safe!

We’ll be there alongside the City of Jacksonville and the North Florida TPO sharing information about bicycle and pedestrian safety, safe walking and biking tips, and resources to help make our streets safer for everyone.

The event will also feature:

🚶🚲 Your voice can help shape the future of Jacksonville’s streets.

The City of Jacksonville Traffic Engineering Division and Councilman Jimmy Peluso are hosting a community meeting to discuss proposed lane repurposing projects on Riverside Avenue, W. Monroe Street, and Forest Street. These projects would improve safety for everyone by creating protected bike lanes, adding on-street parking, enhancing pedestrian crossings, and maintaining traffic flow.

If you support safer, more connected streets that work for people walking, biking, driving, and local businesses, we need your voice in the room.

Very proud of our city for being recognized by the Vision Zero community!

Exciting news: Jacksonville has been officially recognized as a Vision Zero community by the Vision Zero Network!

This recognition reflects years of collaboration among City staff, community partners, advocates, public safety professionals, elected officials, residents, and agency partners who helped shape Jacksonville's Vision Zero Action Plan.

The Vision Zero Network specifically highlighted Jacksonville's development of both local and state High Injury Networks, our partnerships across local, regional, and state agencies, our data-driven approach to identifying safety priorities, and efforts such as 20 Is Plenty that are helping shift the conversation toward a safer transportation system for everyone.

We're honored to join the national network of Vision Zero communities and look forward to learning from our peers across the country while continuing to advance safety initiatives here in Jacksonville.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this effort, especially the members of the Vision Zero Task Force and the many community stakeholders who helped shape the plan. There is still much work ahead, but this is an important milestone worth celebrating.

🚲🌿 Have you checked out the first video in the new Meet the Trails series?

The series highlights Jacksonville’s growing network of urban and recreational trails — and the very first feature is the historic S-Line Trail.

The S-Line is a 4.8-mile multi-use trail connecting Springfield, Durkeeville, New Town, and Brentwood, while also serving as a key part of Jacksonville’s expanding Emerald Trail network.

Originally built in 1886, this former CSX railway was abandoned in the 1980s and officially reopened as a dedicated trail in 2008.

Today, the S-Line is more than just a trail — it’s a community connector that links neighborhoods, parks, schools, businesses, and future Emerald Trail segments across the urban core. The broader Emerald Trail vision will ultimately create more than 30 miles of trails and greenways connecting 14 historic neighborhoods to Downtown Jacksonville, parks, waterways, and the St. Johns River.

From transportation and recreation to history and neighborhood revitalization, the S-Line shows how trails can help connect a city. 🌳✨
