💙🏊‍♂️ Changing lives one lesson at a time! 🏊‍♀️💙

Foster Athletic Network is HONORED to award swim lesson scholarships this summer to THREE amazing foster children at Aquafin Swim School! 🌊✨

This opportunity is about so much more than learning to swim — it’s about building confidence, creating joyful childhood memories, developing life-saving skills, and investing in brighter futures. 💫

We also want to recognize and celebrate Liya Musiyenko, an incredible single foster mother who pours endless love, strength, and dedication into caring for her 3 foster children every single day. ❤️ Her selflessness and commitment to their futures inspire us all.

At Foster Athletic Network, we believe every child deserves opportunities to grow, thrive, and discover their potential through sports and activities that build confidence and resilience. 🙌

Together, we can continue making a difference in the lives of foster children and the heroes who care for them. 💙

"As a single foster mom raising three children, finances can get tight quickly, especially when trying to give each child opportunities to grow, heal, and simply enjoy being kids. Thanks to the scholarship provided through Foster Athletic Network, all three of my children were able to participate in swimming lessons this summer! We are beyond blessed!

Swimming lessons were something I wanted for them for both safety and confidence. In addition, living in Florida water safety is a must. The children all love water and were eager to learn how to swim, but financially that was difficult to accommodate for all three. This scholarship lifted a huge burden and gave my children an experience they truly enjoy. Watching them gain confidence in the water, encourage one another, and celebrate their progress is something I look forward to!

Beyond learning an important life skill, these lessons gave them joy, structure, social interaction, and a sense of accomplishment. As a foster parent, moments like these matter deeply because many children in care have missed out on activities other kids often take for granted.

I am so grateful to Foster Athletic Network and Jai Patel for being such a wonderful young man creating this opportunity. Thank you for investing in foster families like ours and making opportunities like this accessible. Your support made a meaningful difference in our lives, and my children will carry these memories and skills with them for years to come! Thank you again!" - Liya Musiyenko

Another FANtastic and productive day for Foster Athletic Network founder Jai Patel and his fellow Mayor’s Young Leaders Advisory Council (MYLAC) members! 💙👏

Over the past year, MYLAC has dedicated countless hours to researching the growing challenges surrounding teen mental health in Duval County and developing meaningful solutions to better support local youth. Yesterday, the team had the incredible opportunity to present their findings, ideas, and recommendations to community leaders and Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan! 🙌

Seeing young leaders step up, use their voices, and advocate for positive change in our community is truly inspiring. The future is brighter because of passionate youth who are committed to creating a healthier, more supportive environment for students across Jacksonville. 🌟

We are beyond proud of Jai and the entire MYLAC team for turning compassion into action and proving that young people can make a real impact TODAY. 💪🧠❤️

The high cost of youth sports: Is your kid being left behind?
NBC Washington

Youth sports used to mean teamwork, fun, and weekend games. Now, for many families, it means travel teams, private coaching, early specialization, and thousands of dollars a year. In this episode of For More Context, News4 I-Team's Ted Oberg examines how the youth sports boom is reshaping childhood—and which kids may be getting left behind.

Ted talks with News4 reporter Dominique Moody, Jon Solomon of the Aspen Institute’s Sports & Society Program, and coaches/founders of R&D Baseball, Rob Riley and Dan Olds, about the rising cost of youth sports, the pressure on kids to specialize earlier, and the growing gap between families who can afford year-round training and those who cannot.

The conversation looks at how travel ball, AAU, private instruction, social media exposure, and even NIL are changing the youth sports experience for kids as young as 10, 11, and 12. It also explores what research says about burnout, overuse injuries, and the importance of asking young athletes what they actually want out of sports: fun, friendship, and the chance to play.

May is a month full of sunshine, hope… and something really special 💙

It’s National Foster Care Month — a time to stand beside incredible kids who just need a chance to play, grow, and believe in themselves.

At Foster Athletic Network, we believe something simple but powerful:
⚽ A ball can build confidence
🏀 A team can feel like family
🏈 A coach can change a life

Every child deserves that moment…
The moment they smile a little bigger.
Run a little faster.
Dream a little louder. 🌟

Through sports, mentorship, and a supportive community, we’re helping foster children discover their strength, build resilience, and unlock their full potential.

But we can’t do it without YOU!

💛 You can be the reason a child believes in themselves.
💛 You can help turn “maybe someday” into “I can do this!”
