NCOJ NONVIOLENCE GUIDELINES

This covers all activities conducted by the Northside Coalition of Jacksonville. We ask that all action and speech by those involved, aligned and in collaboration with the Northside Coalition of Jacksonville follow these Nonviolence Guidelines:

Our attitude will be firm, honest and straightforward. It will also be an attitude of openness and respect toward all we enco

unter in our actions. We will use no violence, verbal or physical, toward any person at any time. We will not destroy or damage any property. We will carry no weapons. We will not bring any drugs or alcohol. If participating in a nonviolent direct action, such as civil disobedience, we will not run or resist arrest; we will remain accountable for our actions as a means of furthering our witness to injustice. Additionally, we require that all individuals considering participation in a nonviolent direct action take appropriate nonviolence training.

Kelly Frazier, NCOJ President, and Mike Ludwick partnered with the University of Florida on a UF research project that involved a "transect walk" to collect data on housing conditions on the Eastside. Volunteers from JEA helped out also. We look forward to seeing the final product and see how it can help inform policymakers in Jacksonville.

NCOJ is a member of the Duval Voting Rights Coalition who helped bring about this success for the people of Jacksonville!:

The City of Jacksonville and Downtown Investment Authority are providing free metered parking around the Supervisor of Elections Office (105 E Monroe Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202) for the 2026 Primary Election.

Specifically, free metered parking will be available on Monroe and Duval Streets between Main and Market Streets during early voting, August 7 to August 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. – and again on Election Day, August 18 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Signage will indicate that parking is for voters only with a maximum of two hours.

“It’s our hope that by reducing this barrier, more citizens will be encouraged to participate in local elections,” said Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan. “We are grateful to the members of the All Voting is Local and the Duval Voting Rights Coalitions who brought this recommendation to us and we thank them for the advocacy.”
