Florida officials have removed thousands of kratom products containing illegally high concentrations of 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) from store shelves. These highly concentrated products can affect the same brain receptors as opioids and may increase the risk of dependence, withdrawal, overdose, and death.

Many people mistakenly assume that because a product is labeled as "natural" or is sold over the counter, it carries little risk. That's not always the case. Potency can vary widely, and some products may contain dangerous levels of active ingredients.

The best way to protect yourself and those you care about is to:

Today is 710 Day, making it a good time to highlight the importance of cannabis safety. Cannabis concentrates can contain very high levels of THC, increasing the risk of serious effects such as extreme drowsiness, confusion, anxiety, slowed breathing, and loss of consciousness—especially in children and pets.
