We were blessed with some much needed rain at the sanctuary!
So now we have some very muddy paws, and of course happy boys.
Gunner is loving every bit of this and Fred would like to remind you all he is still looking for his forever home. 💙🐾💙🐾

Fred went to school today! 🏫 🐾💙

Fred put on a backpack and attended class for animal science. He was so friendly and helped to teach the class not only about the importance of pet health, behavioral traits and basic animal care, but also on the importance of rescue and sanctuary programs like ours.
Way to go Fred!
Oh, and just another way that one rescued gal and her connections link communities together to do more good.

Two years.
Two years ago we took a call for help to assist with two German Shepherds whose mom had passed away unexpectedly the night before.
Two years ago Gunner made the trip to our home with his big brother Trigger, after their entire world was shaken up. Two years ago we were reminded that no one is promised tomorrow. A lesson that is never easy to be reminded of.
Two years goes by fast, and we are so very grateful that we have been gifted Gunners remaining time. 🐾💙🐾💙

We are so excited to announce that Daffy has finally found the perfect home!
Our best girl, the beautiful Bluetick had a rough start and was with us for quite awhile. Her wait was definitely worth it and she has found an amazing family that turns out, waited just as long to find her!

Introducing Fred!💙🐾

Fred is an estimated 5 year old male Great Pyrenees now ready for a home of his own.
He was an unclaimed stray that had spent some time hanging out in a rural area before his wandering ended him up in impound. At the shelter he was showing signs of kennel distress and needed a safe spot to land.
Fred joined the sanctuary where he could have more space, watch over the horses and be vetted. He was neutered, microchipped, received updated vaccines and lab work which showed he is heartworm negative and though underweight otherwise healthy. He was pretty dirty from his adventures, so a trip to the groomer was a priority. He tolerated his bath pretty well for his breed, and absolutely loved the blow out afterwards!
He has adjusted to leash walking, crate trained and housebroken. He is friendly with other dogs and indifferent to cats.
Fred is quiet though alert. He is most content being next to people and does need reassurance he is not alone at times.
Don’t let all the super soft fluff fool you, he is only 75 pounds. He is tolerating a regular diet with multiple feedings daily to help him gain weight to a healthy range. He won’t take treats from your hand, preferring to eat in private, but add a little cheese and he will be your very best friend!
Fred is a climber and can really jump. A six foot outdoor kennel run is no match for this guy. However, once he learns his boundaries and is reassured he is not alone with supervised outdoor time, he has not attempted to escape.
Fred will do best in a home that has a lot of human contact and reassurance, understanding his personality is more of one for love versus as a working dog. He’s quite content for shorter, frequent outings where he can plop down and look around. Belly rubs will be a must.
Fred has been very gentle and friendly with everyone he meets, but has not been around small children.
We continue to learn more about his traits as he learns he is safe and consistently cared for.

Gunner’s Big Day!
We started off with a routine check up at the vet. We always make sure to look ahead to the scheduled staff so that Gunner is as comfortable as he can be and has the familiar friends he knows the best. After a little resistance to the blood draw, he felt right at home with the treat jar and his favorite staff!
Following his appointment he was able to again visit his previous owner’s office to see more friends and family who stopped by knowing he was coming. It never fails to choke me up seeing his awareness as we round the corner to the office and how he always knows exactly where we are. Of course he trotted right in and was quickly spoiled with pup cups, lots of jerky treats and even more love from the familiar faces of his loved ones.
So far Gunner’s results show increasing arthritic changes to his back legs, and routine bloodwork within normal limits. A couple medication changes, addition of an alternate supplement, and then we continue with his current exercise regimen and diet.
Gunner’s big day was a good day!🐾💙

Well the cute little Corgi found her happy forever with a warm snuggly bed, two cat siblings, and the very best family!
Aurora you are one lucky lady.

Meet Aurora!

Aurora is a three year old Corgi. She is spayed, fully vetted, and crate trained.

Aurora came to us as an owner surrender after a significant health decline rendered them unable to care for her. She is shy, and has had limited interactions, so most everything has been new to her since coming to the sanctuary. However, she is showing us how curious she is to learn and has been so good with all the new experiences she has already encountered.
She loves love, loves people, is learning to play with the other dogs and really loves the cat. She has quickly learned fetch and enjoys her chew toys.
