Last Thursday, my dear friend Rabbi Shmuly Altein passed away after a six-year battle with sarcoma.

Shmuly and his wife, Adina, were close friends of Raizy and I. During his treatment journey, they visited us in Jackson Hole on their way from Winnipeg, and we had the privilege of spending time together. Raizy and I also had the privilege of spending time with Rabbi Shmuley on several occasions in NY while he underwent treatment. Like so many others, I was deeply inspired by his remarkable faith, strength, and positivity.

For six years, Shmuly fought like a lion. Despite enduring tremendous pain and uncertainty, he never stopped caring for others. He continued to teach, inspire, guide, and uplift everyone around him. His faith never wavered, and his warmth touched countless lives.

At just 43 years old, he leaves behind his devoted wife Adina and five beautiful children.

I am asking my friends and community to join me in supporting Shmuly's family during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution, large or small, will help provide meaningful support and honor the legacy of an extraordinary husband, father, rabbi, and friend.

We are still feeling so much gratitude and joy following our son Nachi’s epic Bar Mitzvah celebration. 🎉✨

It was an incredibly meaningful evening filled with Torah, community, uplifting energy, beautiful dancing, and so much simcha. Seeing friends, family, and community members come together to celebrate this special milestone meant so much to our family. 💙

Thank you to everyone who joined us, celebrated with us, and helped make the occasion so warm and memorable. Your friendship, blessings, and support made the evening truly unforgettable.

As parents, one of the greatest blessings is knowing your child is in a school where they are cared for, inspired, and excited to learn.

Raizy and I feel that way every day about Chanie’s school at Lubavitch Girls High School Chicago. We are so thankful for the incredible teachers and environment that have helped her grow so beautifully.

Today we’re helping the school reach its fundraising goal so they can continue providing this special education and support to Jewish girls for years to come.
