This parents post is a great example of why this page was started
So I live in a neighborhood called Jenkinsburg Station and we have our own neighborhood group. However the husband and wife who run our group are the type of individuals that wonât allow you in the group if they donât like you, or if one of their friends doesnât like you, or if you post anything negative about their disrespect son. Needless to say, Iâm not in the group and neither is my husband, weâve lived in this neighborhood since 2015. Today a parentâs worst nightmare happened and my Special Needs Son had a mental breakdown and he ran outside into the woods, and he was missing for slightly over 6 hours. Now if this happened to my neighborâs, they would go to the neighbor group and ask for help, and I believe a huge percentage of neighbors would have been out searching for him. I called Henry County PD and waited over 2.5 hours for them to come and they never showed up. (Iâm guessing a missing child isnât high on their priority list) Myself, my 2 daughters and a friend searched everywhere for hours and we couldnât find my son. It was slightly before dark when I called 911 the first time. I finally got a neighbor to post about my son being missing and her description was all kinds of wrong, but I couldnât correct it, because Iâm not in the group. Another neighbor commented on the post and said it was ridiculous for The Whitfieldâs to ostracize my from the group, especially when a special needs child has been missing for hours. She kicked that neighbor out of the group and blocked him⌠I had typed up this message with a description of my son, how long heâd been missing and that the police hadnât shown up and were called 2.5 hours earlier. Iâm copying and pasting my post right here in our group. Iâm sure by mentioning the Adminâs names of our small neighborhood group, some of you will know them. When a childâs life could be at risk, a parent should have every single resource at their disposal and because of hateful vindictive neighbors, I couldnât request any help and clearly HCPD didnât help either, they never showed up. This was the post I created to be posted after I finally found my son. This situation could have been so much worseâŚ
âThis is Kelly Archer, myself and my 2 daughters along with one of their friends have been searching for my special needs son, Hogan for hours. He got mad and had a meltdown and ran across the street into the woods behind my neighbors house. In total he was missing for slightly over 6 hours, he was wearing camouflage pajama pants and a short sleeve light gray shirt, he also had a baseball hat on, and no shoes, he was in his socks. I contacted the police after heâd already been gone for about 4 - 4.5 hours, right before it started to get dark. I finally cancelled the call to 911 a little after 10 pm when my son was found. The police never showed, I called them 3 times in total asking how much longer, clearly there was no urgency on their part. Unfortunately The Whitfieldâs (Darcy and Kevin) wonât allow myself or my husband into the group. (Petty) Today an Autistic Child w/ Touretteâs Syndrome, who is almost legally blind went missing and me his mom desperately needed help, I had no way to reach out to neighbors to ask for help since Iâm blocked from the neighborhood group. I honestly hope no one else in the neighborhood finds themselves in this unfortunate situation if their child goes missing Ty, Hoganâs Mom (This post never got posted) đ˘
