A big thank you to the students from Valley Regional High School who worked alongside members of the Deep River Land Trust during Friday’s Warriors in the Community Day to give the Bushy Hill Sugar Shack a fresh coat of paint and spread soil for the garden! The Land Trust has been hard at work caring for the Sugar Shack this spring, and the students’ help with painting made this special place look even better. We’re so grateful for this community partnership, and can’t wait for next year’s maple sugaring season!

Four buses. 130 students. One fun-filled day of survival challenges in the woods.

Inspired by the book Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, today’s field trip brought students deep into hands-on outdoor adventure as they rotated through six different survival-themed stations throughout the woods.

From building brush shelters and learning fire by friction with bow drills to tackling low ropes challenges, survival scavenger hunts, and camouflage games in the forest, students spent the day testing their teamwork, observation, resilience, and problem-solving skills.

There’s nothing better than watching the woods come alive with curiosity, challenge, and adventure-filled learning.

Spring field trip season has kept us busy nearly every day lately, and we’re grateful to keep helping students connect with nature through hands-on experiences outdoors.

Meet Sydney, from Connecticut, joining us for her first summer as an Assistant Counselor!

She's been a Bushy Hill camper every summer since she was 5, and has been part of the day camp, Scout and Mountain teen programs, and CIT program. A natural leader, she creates a welcoming, inclusive environment where campers feel comfortable, confident, and ready to explore.

She’s excited to help campers connect with nature, build confidence outdoors, and make their own Bushy Hill memories!

At Bushy Hill, a little rain just means a different kind of adventure!
With the right gear and a curious mindset, rainy hikes lead to puddle splashing, muddy boots, and sometimes even discovering a Red Eft (a juvenile Eastern Newt) along the trail.
