IT BEGAN AS A DREAM….NOW IT IS OUR MISSION… WITH YOUR HELP IT WILL SOON BE A REALITY ! WHAT IS DAY DREAMS, INC? How? Why?

Day Dreams Inc is a local Non Profit 501 C 3 Corporation whose goal is to establish a Community Recreation/Wellness Center in Gratiot County available and accessible to all the people in our community! Available to all means membership fees based on a sliding scale according to family income, so everyone can have the chance to participate in fun and healthy physical activities, games and classes.

Accessible to all means equipment and activities for all level of abilities as well as featuring our “Day Club”. WHAT IS DAY DREAMS DAY CLUB? Gratiot Community Recreation/Wellness Center will feature Day Dream’s Day Club. Monday through Friday from 9a to 3pm typical rec centers experience a lull in activity and usage, but not at our center! During this time our center will be hosting The Day Dreams Day Club. During these hours we will be busy with activities and classes targeted to people with disabilities and the elderly, but will be open to all who would like to participate. Participants can chose to come full time or less. Once people with developmental disabilities age out of the school system at age 26, there are no options available for inclusive day time activities within our community. Let’s face it, a person can only shop and eat lunch out so much! Many spend the majority of their time with no place to go, nothing to get out of bed for, and nobody to miss them if they’re not there. Day Dream’s Day Club will be a life changing opportunity for many of the people in our community with physical and mental disabilities, and for senior citizens that need a safe warm place to be physically active and socialize. HOW AND WHY SHOULD I HELP? Use the contact information below for details on making donations and our fundraisers. Our website is under construction but check out our face book page for information on the website address and launch date expected by July 15th. Our website will feature donation options of PayPal and Amazon.com/Smile, our mission state, corporate documents and clickable names of our board of directors to learn more about them, an e-newsletter, information on our goals and progress and a place to give feedback on what YOU want in YOUR Recreation/Wellness Center. Because any size donation of time or money will make our dream, our mission, become a reality. You and your family will have access to a state of the art Recreation/Wellness Center right here in Gratiot County, operated by a not for profit corporation open to bringing our community what they’d like to see in a Recreation/Wellness Center…dream it and then join us to make it real! Wednesday is Pizza Plan Day for Day Dreams Day Club! Come help plan our activities for Club for the next couple of months and enjoy some pizza with friends. We will meet this Wednesday, July 8th, at the St Louis Church of Christ (1075 W Monroe, St Louis) from 3:30 to 5:00pm.

We will meet in the Club House room (not the gym) BUT PLEASE USE THE FRONT PARKING LOT AND FRONT DOOR as they are repaving the back parking lot and it can not be driven on yet

Club has a last minute opportunity to go see a private showing of Toy Story 5 this Wednesday, so Day Dreams Day Club is going to the movies! We will meet this Wednesday, July 1st, at The Crystal Box Office Theater (The Best Theater Ever!) at 114 S Main Street in Crystal. The movie starts at 3:30 so come early to get your pop and popcorn. Day Dreams covers the cost of your movie ticket and a small drink and small popcorn and small candy. If you would like something else, please bring some spending money.

It's going to be a hot day so come join us inside where it's cool, and the movie is cool too! See you at the movies!

Day Dreams Day Club will be spending our Club time among the lavendar this week! We will meet this Wednesday, June 24th from 3:30 to 5:00 pm at Sixteen Sprigs Lavendar Farm, 4851 N State Rd. Alma. We will be learning about lavendar, planting our own lavendar plant to take home and enjoying the aromatic ambiance of Sixteen Sprigs. We will be meeting, rain or shine. If it rains, we will stay under the pavillion.

In Michigan you can hop on a tube and float the beautiful Lower Platte River all the way to Lake Michigan, where you’ll catch incredible views of Sleeping Bear Dunes beyond as you finish up at one of the most beautiful sand beaches in the state! You can float this trip through Riverside Canoes in Honor, Michigan, a longtime outfitter along M-22 that offers Lower Platte River tubing, canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and more.

The most popular tubing trip starts near the Weir and gives you a gentle 2 to 3 hour float through Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The water is shallow, clear, and slow-moving, with warm summer temps that make it great for families, groups of friends, and anyone looking for an easy day on the river. After a shuttle ride and a short walk down a gravel road, you’ll ease into the river and drift past quiet trees, sunny stretches, and peaceful northern Michigan scenery.

The best part comes at the end, where the Platte River meets Lake Michigan and you can take in the beach, the wide blue water, and the dunes in the distance. Riverside also offers a shorter 1-hour Loon & Walk float, plus tubes with handles, ropes for tying together, cooler tubes, and life jackets for children 8 and under.
