Watch a Raven chase a Cooper’s Hawk away from Turtle Crossing today! Crows around the area (including Giver the Crow!) are usually the first alert of a potential danger in the area but the last few days they have left this job to someone bigger in size…raven! This beautiful Coopers Hawk got a Mourning Dove the other day and all residents 🦆 & visitors🐦 at Turtle Crossing have had an eye 👀 out since. A gift to witness, be a part of & learn from the feathered community!

Chilly mornings on the farm! ❄️♥️✨

Pearl & Leo love their Spa sessions especially on snowy days here at Turtle Crossing! ❄️🐢🥰 Soaking Sulcata tortoises is especially important this time of year because of the low humidity—not to mention, it’s a bit of fun in a long winter!

An amazing fact about woodpeckers 🪵🐦 … their tongues have barbs on them for extracting various bugs from trees and logs, and also wrap around their head to reduce any brain or skull injuries while pecking away! If you look closely, you can see the development of this on one of our newest Woodpecker intakes! The specific species of a Woodpecker is very difficult to identify as a nestling. Any guesses on what this little one is?!

“Pixie” the Porcupine was hit by a car in early July in New Hampshire and suffered a fractured femur & head damage. Unable to find veterinary care for her in NH she was brought to the Cornell University Janet L. Swanson Wildlife Hospital by Wildlife Rehabilitator Kathy Langlois. Pixie has been cared for & very loved here at Turtle Crossing since then! Yesterday Pixie went in for her 3rd surgery which unfortunately resulted in the amputation of her leg due lack of bone healing after 2 attempts of plates in her femur. Pixie is a true fighter and we are so proud for her getting through all she has endured this year. Due to required amputation she is now non-releasable, however, we are so thankful to have Pix here as part of the family & grateful to the Janet L. Swanson Wildlife Hospital for their incredible work! Please send Pixie thoughts for a swift recovery from her surgery ♥️🙏🏼 Swipe to watch videos of sweet Pix enjoying her favorite…fresh corn on the cob! 🌽🥰

~Please us help more wildlife like Pixie by contributing to our holiday fundraiser! Donate through the link below or through links in our bio which includes our Amazon wishlist of much needed daily supplies. A little goes a long way and is so appreciated by all of the animals that find their way to us for love & care ♥️♥️
