At Choral Arts Initiative, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do.

Performing new and contemporary choral music often means stepping into the unknown. There’s rarely a performance tradition to guide us, so every singer comes prepared, engaged, and invested in the success of the ensemble. Together, we build the music from the ground up.

It’s a process built on preparation, trust, curiosity, and shared accountability.

That collective commitment is one of the things that makes this ensemble so special—and one of the reasons we’re already excited for what Season 15 will bring. ✨

🎶 At Choral Arts Initiative, championing the work of living composers is at the heart of what we do.

Through performances, commissions, premieres, recordings, and educational initiatives, we’ve had the privilege of supporting and collaborating with more than 75 living composers, helping bring new choral music to life and connecting audiences with the voices shaping our art form today.

Every new work represents a unique perspective, story, and creative vision. We are grateful to the composers who have entrusted us with their music and to the audiences who continue to embrace the excitement of discovering something new.

That commitment continues this month at the 2026 PREMIERE|Project Festival, where we’ll present 10 world premieres by 10 composers from across the United States and abroad.

Feeling inspired after the 2026 Chorus America Conference.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with colleagues from across the country, share ideas, and reflect on the future of our field. We return energized by the conversations, affirmed in our mission, and excited for the season ahead.

Here’s to the artists, audiences, and communities that make this work so meaningful. Onward! ✨

What happens when 10 composers and 10 conductors come together to shape the future of choral music?

This year, PREMIERE|Project Festival expands with the introduction of our new Conductor Track—a natural next step in our mission to strengthen the entire ecosystem of new music. As Artistic Director Brandon Elliott shares, composers and conductors are often trained separately, even though the future of new choral music depends on their collaboration. By bringing emerging composers and conductors into the same hands-on environment, they can learn, create, problem-solve, and grow together.

The result? A deeper understanding of the creative process, stronger artistic partnerships, and a healthier future for new music.

Experience the culmination of that work at the PREMIERE|Project Festival Final Concert, where our festival participants will bring 10 brand-new choral works to life—world premieres by 10 composers, conducted by 10 conductors from across the country and abroad.

What a beautiful moment to revisit. ✨

From Light From Within, the cycle that launched our Season 14 journey, here’s "Wondrous Glow" by Mari Esabel Valverde with text by Amir Rabiyah.

Some music stays with us long after the final note. Returning to this performance reminds us why we began this season in the first place: to seek connection, wonder, and the light we carry within.

And while it’s wonderful to look back, we’re just as excited about what’s ahead.

We can’t wait for you to experience the next cycle of new works at PREMIERE|Project Festival 2026, where we’ll debut 10 brand-new compositions by 10 composers from across the United States and abroad, brought to life by our festival conductors and professional ensemble.
