EPISODE 1: Why Does CAI Exist? IS NOW LIVE!

Fifteen seasons in, there are many stories we could tell. So naturally, we started with a question. This season, we’re telling the story of CAI through six of them: Why do we exist? How does the music happen? Why do people stay? Why take risks? Does it matter? And what are we building?

Our new six-part docuseries looks back not simply to celebrate where we’ve been, but to reflect on the people, music, ideas, challenges, and discoveries that have shaped CAI and to imagine what comes next.

Across six episodes, you’ll hear CAI’s story from the people who have actually lived it. Each new episode will debut at one of our performances throughout Season 15, becoming part of how we experience this milestone together, before arriving online publicly afterward.

Whether you’ve been part of this journey for years or you’re just discovering CAI, we hope you’ll join us for the stories behind the music and the people who have made fifteen seasons possible.

We hope you will enjoy this special way of reflecting and celebrating with us!

(Really though, we filmed a documentary series!)

As we step into Season 15, we’re looking back at the people, music, premieres, and moments that brought CAI here and looking ahead to everything that’s still to come.

The first episode of our new documentary series premieres this Saturday September 19 at our Season 15 Opening Celebration, with future episodes debuting throughout the season at each of our performances.

More soon on how you’ll be able to watch along.

Stay tuned. We’ve got quite the story to tell!

From our first performances to the stage today, a lot has changed in fifteen seasons.

New singers have joined us. New composers and works have entered the room. New ideas have challenged us, surprised us, and expanded what we believe choral music can be.

But through it all, the reason we gather has remained: to discover, champion, and bring new music to life.

Now, we get to ask what comes next.

Season 15 is a celebration of where we’ve been—but even more, an invitation into everything still ahead. There are new voices to hear, new music to experience, and so much more to discover together.

We’re excited for what’s ahead. And we’re glad you’re part of it!

Come experience what’s next with us beginning November 15 with 'Rewritten', the first performance of Season 15: Still New.

You know we’re a choir, but singing is only part of the story.

At Choral Arts Initiative, new music moves through a process—from discovering voices and ideas, to bringing them into the rehearsal room, onto the stage, and beyond the performance itself.

For 15 seasons, we’ve championed living composers and brought the music of our time to life. That work happens long before an audience hears the first note—and continues after the final one.

Discover. Commission. Rehearse. Premiere. Record.

Five verbs. One continuous cycle.

And when it’s finished? We begin again.

It’s why, 15 seasons later, what we do is still new!

Take a look at how the process comes together—and tell us: Which part should we take you inside next?

15 seasons in, and somehow, it’s all still new.

New music to discover. New voices to champion. New ideas to explore. New moments to experience together. And through it all, we’re still CAI: curious, adventurous, and committed to discovering where choral music can go next.

Dates, times, and locations are all here— all that’s missing is you!

We’re delighted to welcome Brandon Chase Di Noto as Choral Arts Initiative’s new Assistant Conductor!

A conductor, vocalist, educator, and composer, Brandon brings a deep commitment to collaboration and contemporary choral music—as well as a special connection to CAI. A two-time alumnus of our PREMIERE|Project Festival, he participated as a Composer Fellow in 2024 and returned as a Conductor Fellow in 2026.

“I am thrilled to be joining the CAI Artistic Leadership Team. As a two-time alumnus of P|PF—as both a Composer Fellow and a Conductor Fellow—I can say firsthand that this organization is actively changing lives by creating pathways for emerging artists. I look forward to being part of bringing new music to life!”

Brandon serves on the School of Music faculty at Azusa Pacific University and is pursuing a D.M.A. in Choral Music at the USC Thornton School of Music. We’re excited to welcome his artistry, experience, and collaborative spirit to CAI’s Artistic Leadership Team.

Please join us in welcoming Brandon!
