April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. 🩵

Nearly 60% of children enter foster care due to reports of neglect. What we know is that many cases in child welfare indicate a discrepancy in defining outcome of unintentional neglect resulting from poverty. Unfortunately, neglect does not end for many children when they enter the foster system. As time goes on, we begin to see thousands of young adults exit the foster system with no family, no support, no connections, and no sense of belonging.

Nobody tells you that healing can look like connection.

Our co-founders Jordan and Scott started with providing workforce development and jobs to former foster youth through Doing Good Works. But the more they listened to those with lived experience in foster care, the clearer it became: jobs and housing matter — but so does having people. And oftentimes, having people is even more critical.

Real people. People who understand your story without you having to tell the whole thing.

Today, Foster Greatness is a 100% virtual community where current and former foster youth can age in at 18 — and never age out. Every program, every resource, every event is shaped by people with lived experience in care. Because the people closest to the problem are always closest to the solution.

Adulthood doesn't come with a manual. But it's easier with people who get it. 💙

Nobody hands you a roadmap when you age out of foster care. No one tells you how to navigate taxes, a lease, a hard day — without someone to call.

That's not a failure. That's the reality of doing it without a built-in safety net.
