Our group had a great evening with the Kiwanis Club of Richmond, KY for our annual Officer Installation Banquet.

Their Club President, Jill Verna Petrey, is also our Lt. Governor this year for Division 9, Kentucky-Tennessee District of Kiwanis.

Friday, December 4, 2026

“Hometown Holidays” Theme

Line-up: 6 – 6:45 p.m.
(All entries will be staged at Ravenna Veterans Memorial Park.)

Start Time: 7 p.m.

Route:
Ravenna Park to River Drive toward Irvine. Turn right onto Main Street and continue on Main Street to Estill Springs Elementary front parking lot or Wi******er Road Dollar General Store parking lot.

Special Guests: The award winning Estill County Marching Engineers will participate. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in their sleigh.

Grand Marshals: Larry & Lisa Stewart

Judging: Level of effort or difficulty, lighting display, and overall appearance

Floats wishing to be judged MUST pre-register by Monday, November 30.

Prizes: 1st place - $125, 2nd place - $100, and 3rd place - $75

Eligible Entries: All groups, churches, schools, fire departments, businesses, and organizations are invited to participate by entering a float, band, antique car, or other related parade unit (no walkers). For safety reasons, no animals, bicycles or unlicensed motorized vehicles will be entered. Parade participants are not to toss candy or other objects to the crowd in the interest of public safety.

During our last meeting we received a devotional from fellow Kiwanis member Carolyn Perkins. She shared a daily prayer: A Prayer to Forgo Comparison by Tammy Darling.

We then had our board meeting where we discussed upcoming events and projects. Our next meeting will be our Officer Installation Banquet at the Estill County Public Library, instead of our usual meeting place at Steam Engine Pizza Pub.

We were pleased to invite Becky Crawford, Treasurer of the Estill High School Band Boosters to our meeting a few weeks ago to accept a donation to the Band Boosters.

We meet this Thursday at 6 PM to have our devotional and board meeting. Come by and visit to see if you are interested in becoming a member.

During our meeting this week, Richard Snowden (Club President) presented fellow Kiwanian Estine Tipton with a donation from the club for the Ravenna Railroad Festival.

During this meeting we discussed a lot of future events for the club such as fundraising, the upcoming Christmas parade, and membership.

Join us for our next meeting on Thursday, September 24th at 6 PM at the Steam Engine Pizza Pub.

Last night we enjoyed a lovely devotional from our fellow member Steve Garrett. The topic covered was A Wise Tongue.

The board meeting followed where members discussed topics such as the upcoming local events and plans for the Christmas parade.

The Irvine-Ravenna Kiwanis Club meets every 2nd and last Thursday of the month at Steam Engine Pizza Pub.

Today some friends and members of our group served dinner at Aldersgate Camp. We were delighted to serve together and visit with all the campers.
