Another summer begins with Orange County Council's week-long National Youth Leadership Training course. NYLT is not summer camp, but instead an intense 6 days of activity, learning and immersion, where participants learn to form teams, communicate, resolve conflict and problem solve within the context of Scouting. The entire program is delivered by other youth

There has been a lot of distraction this week, but our Troops and Council remain focused on what matters: the Scouts.

This weekend Troop 606 was at James Event Productions Lakeview Park Camping area for our Annual Pre-Camporee. Scouts practiced various Scout Skills, all getting ready for the Rancho San Joaquin District RSJ District 2026 Camporee taking place next month.

It has been an amazing year for Troop 606. Our Historian Alex has made a video showing all the outdoor activities we got up to in 2025. The Troop has so much planned for 2026 so stay tuned!

On December 12 - 14, Troop 606 had our Winter Campout at Silverwood Recreation Area. The Winter Campout is an old 606 Tradition (fees are included in annual dues).

This year we were also joined by Arrow of Light Scouts from Pack 607 and Cub Scout Pack 654 - Irvine, CA. They played on a Monkey Bridge, tried some fishing and learned about First Aid, while enjoying meals prepared by our Goat (Adult) Patrol. We also had a Raccoon try to join our Troop. (Seriously: food must stay out of tents.)

It is critical for Packs and AOLs to spend time with Troops. The younger Scouts benefit from seeing older mentors lead while deciding if the Troop "fits" them. And older Scouts benefit from being role models.
