There will be no swim this weekend, folks. Safety is always priority, and getting yourself killed or injured is not a good time. Please stay home, stay safe, and most importantly take care of each other. Check on neighbors, especially seniors. Use space heaters safely, know where there is a warming center nearby, and leave the faucets on a trickle. We will gather again soon but this weekend stay in and bake some bread with people you love.

First day the water was sub-40F and we had a great sunset group! The air was unseasonably warm but this is maybe the new normal. It was still quite raw and damp and felt much colder than the thermometer said. Beautiful as always with the best company and the sweetest kiddos cheering us on from the shore, noticing how pretty the clouds were.

Our first snowy swim! Drove home the long way with a hot coffee and a big grin on my face. I’m so grateful for these people and this place.

What a day! It was like a July afternoon on the beach with about fifteen people in and out of the water. I submerged to my shoulders for about 19 minutes. A group of folks swam laps. Another group ran in and plunged. I love how everyone found their speed and was out to take advantage of the sunshine in this gorgeous place we call home.

I’m so grateful for tonight.

It’s been a long time away from the ocean and I miss my swims. I miss the chill, and the people I’ve met who also like to chill. Illness, brutal weather like this, Q4 madness at work, and tides that are hiding from the daylight have cramped my style. I hope I can swim at the Solstice, one of my favorite days of the year and fast approaching. I hope you all are well.

When I tell you I’ve been sick, I mean SICK. This has been a long fezzle and I was pretty depressed thinking of all the swims I was missing out on. But at just the right moment, Meg said, “let’s go.” And I went and it felt like exactly what I needed to exorcise these viral demons from my body. I’m still sick, but feeling lighter and tingly with a warm heart after spending a sunny beach day with these lovely people.

Update to explain my absence: I hate how long I’ve been on land without a dippy respite. I came down with an upper respiratory (non-COVID, non-flu) viral infection last week and it just kept getting worse so I have not been able to go swimming, which sucks. The biologics that I take for multiple sclerosis leave me immune suppressed and very susceptible to long and protracted infections and I’m in the midst of one right now. I’m seeing my doctor and trying to rest and move and hydrate and I’ll be riding my albuterol inhaler for a while. Thanks for the messages and notes and so forth and I really hope to be back in the water soon. I miss you folks. Keep the water warm for me and please tell me about your swims!

Well we’ll look what a colleague of mine in Asheville NC just sent to me! Maybe I’m wrong, but it seems to me that this whole crazy cold water thing is catching on with the rest of the people out there. Wild. .and.flow.collective

It’s getting darker out there! Here are the tides for the week, folks. Please reach out if you would like to coordinate a dip together. Looking forward to meeting more of you party people. I bet this is the week we see water temps below 50F. What are the odds in Vegas?

Another first time dipper! Laurie did great considering her first dip was in 50F water which is cold AF for a first swim. And bonus because we got to warm up in her car and catch up on life. Here’s to many more swims.

The Waters
We give thanks to all the waters of the world for quenching our thirst and providing us with strength. Water is life. We know its power in many forms- waterfalls and rain, mists and streams, rivers and oceans. With one mind, we send greetings and thanks to the spirit of Water.
Now our minds are one.
