Safety ≠ surveillance.

Public safety investments should address the conditions that produce violence, not simply expand policing and surveillance. Communities deserve to know what surveillance systems collect, who can access the data, how long it’s retained, and whether outside agencies can search it.

Indy Action spent some time this spring engaging with this issue, and after learning our own law-enforcement agency has been unable to protect our privacy and civil rights with this technology, it's clear we have to do more than talk about the issue but organize on it, too.

Join us next week as we engage with national expert and executive director of the UC Berkeley Law Criminal Justice Center, Chesa Boudin, on what accountable systems look like and how we protect our rights in a new age of surveillance. Link in bio

Join us tomorrow at the City County building at 6 PM for the rollout of the city budget.

We are fighting to protect ~20 million in the city budget. These priorities keep our community safer and more connected. These investments not only save taxpayer dollars but are more effective solutions than incarcerating neighbors.

We’ll meet at 6 PM to prepare for a press conference before attending the council meeting.
