Burts owners are reaching out for help with rehoming Burt after a series of incidents that don’t make their home an ideal situation for him any longer. Burt has boundaries and wants you to respect them, he does communicate his desires for you to move along but will correct if boundaries are pushed. Following incidents below:
1. Burt was laying on the dads lap, toddler ran into dads lap like toddlers do and Burt nipped the child’s cheek. Toddler did not need stitches or anything like that.
2 & 3. Nipping out of town relatives coming to stay in the residence. He’s not a fan of people outside of his core group walking into the house unannounced, even if they’re already been there.
Owners have worked on other resources to try to keep Burt in the home but his most recent go at the relative and (healthy but inappropriate) communication with the toddlers no longer makes their home the best fit for him. The family divided in this decision, but ultimately know that rehoming him would be the best option.
Owners notes:
- Likes other dogs!
- Likes the cat, but the cat is a nervous cat and always runs which leads to chase. A cat that would slap him one good time would stop that.
- I would trust him in a home with older children who would respect his boundaries.
- Loves adventures
- Loves going to the groomer
- Is an excellent dog otherwise. In a home that had the ability to work with him regularly/less triggers, he would then beat dog they’ve ever owned.
Reach out to us if you’d like to meet Burt! We’d be more than happy to help facilitate it. If any rescues would be interested, we can help facilitate that as well!
