“He doesn’t feel warm. I round through the typical ailments, no stomach ache, no headache, no sore throat. I mentally cycle through my day, which is always flexible, because I want nothing more than to spend the day with him. I can feel something more important than preschool, work obligations, or to-do lists at this moment. I squeeze him a little tighter and decide that he will just stay home with me today.”

If I have learned anything during my last six years of watching and participating in coparenting, it’s that dates on a calendar are just that. Dates on a calendar. We may not always get to celebrate birthdays or holidays with our children and stepchildren on that specific day, and that’s okay.

Navigate the holiday season with ease using coparenting scheduling tips. Keep activities organized and enjoy family moments.

My son started kindergarten last fall, and I worried about so many things. But suddenly, I blinked, and it’s May, and I am starting to reflect on all those worries I had in August.

“Once she has reorganized, she boxes up the miscellaneous utensils and appliances she wants to donate. She takes them out to the car so she doesn’t forget to load them and sees the utter chaos in the car.”

If you give a mom a bouquet, she'll find a million other things to do as she sets the flowers out in her home.

Moms make better managers, even though many employers are afraid to hire and promote women with kids.

“Here’s the thing about supporting moms who are enduring infertility or have experienced pregnancy, infant, or child loss – our grief journeys are not the same, nor have they brought us to the same conclusions about who we are as mothers. Every mother will acknowledge her pregnancy and child in a way that makes sense to her. Therefore, there is no one perfect gift to give or message to share on Mother’s Day.”
