ONS exists to advance excellence in oncology nursing and quality cancer care. CIONS, or the Central Indiana Oncology Nursing Society, is the local ONS chapter serving the central Indiana region. We are also known as chapter #180 by national ONS. Our local chapter was started in 1986, and has been connecting local oncology nurses for over 25 years. We are an active chapter, and our members come fro
m a variety of backgrounds. Many of our members work in and around the Indianapolis area from many large hospital in-patient settings, academia, outpatient practices, and oncology nurses from local pharmaceutical companies. Currently, almost 200 members have joined CIONS. Our chapter meets officially for a business meeting and educational dinner event every other month, beginning in January. Our programs are scheduled at 6:00 pm on the third Monday of the month. The evenings begin with a designated social/ networking time and registration, updates from the Board and CIONS business agenda, followed by an educational dinner program. CIONS members are notified by email with invitations to upcoming programs. Additionally, the event details are posted on the Virtual Community Calendar, located within this web-site. All events require pre-registration, and that information is also located within the calendar event details or program flyer. CIONS members can attend the programs for Free with current membership dues paid; and professional guest are welcome to attend for a small fee. All CIONS members are required to hold active membership with the national ONS organization.
