Black O.P.S

Black O.P.S A pro-active force that is bridging the gap between existing resources and the community. Black OPS provides individualized advocacy for each client as needed.

Founded in 2023 by former Sheriff Deputy Quinton Ballew Jr., Black OPS Support Network emerged in response to the pressing need to support ex-offenders in their re-entry into society. After dedicating 22 years to law enforcement, Ballew redirected his focus postretirement, leveraging his expertise, resources, and relationships to address the challenges faced by those navigating re-entry into socie

ty from the criminal justice system. Black OPS uses resources in the community that exist to provide supportive services and wrap-around services. Black OPS organizes community-based organizations, re-entry providers, mental health providers, and health care systems to meet the needs of newly released individuals.

We as a community have to get back involved with our youth!

New data reveals Black students in Indiana are being suspended at more than three times the rate of white students. Last school year, nearly 73,000 public school students were suspended — a significant increase compared to pre-pandemic years.

The reasons range from fights and va**ng to defiance and classroom meltdowns tied to disabilities. But the impact is clear: missed class time, struggling students, and growing concerns about whether school discipline is being applied fairly — or disproportionately.

Many parents say their kids are being unfairly targeted.
Teachers report that student behavior has worsened since the pandemic. Meanwhile, state officials say discipline is left up to local districts and haven’t taken steps to address the issue.

So we’re asking: Do you think Black students are being unfairly disciplined and suspended for lesser reasons? Or are schools simply overwhelmed by increased behavior issues?
