Join TNC and its partners for a fun day of community science! Volunteers will spend time in the White River and its tributaries taking water samples and recording observations. No experience is needed – we’ll teach you how to run basic water quality tests and learn how these tests help TNC continue caring for the White River, its watershed, and the drinking water it provides to over 1 million Hoosiers.

Bring a friend (or two!) as you’ll be sent out into the watershed in pairs or small groups to collect data for at least one hour after being trained. Be sure to have a vehicle, as all sites are within 30 minutes of the Prairie Creek Reservoir meet-up point. Be prepared to interact with the streams, and dress appropriately.

Join us on October 6th for a tree planting with Indy Land Stewardship and Eco Logic LLC ! We will be meeting at Municipal Gardens and will be out from 1:00pm – 4:00pm planting native tree saplings to help restore forest and increase canopy cover in Indianapolis. We will give a brief demonstration on proper tree planting techniques before we get started. Shovels, gloves, safety vests, and insect repellent will be provided.
