American Legion Post 495 is trying to raise money to help the support the Post. If you like to play poker, this is one way you can help out. Lot of people don't think the location is safe, but we have lots of meetings and get togethers at Post 495 and never had anything happen. Security will be on hand for these games.

The American Legion Indiana Honor and Color Guard had the honor of Presenting the Colors for the Purple Heart Homes Foundation at three (3) Veterans homes in Indianapolis. All three (3) of these Veterans had earned Purple Hearts in combat. This video will give you some idea about Purple Heart Homes and you will see the Color Guard in action.

This past Saturday was National Wreath Day and something like 3,000 cemeteries across the United States had ceremonies for placing wreaths on the Veterans graves in those cemeteries. The American Legion Indiana District 11 Honor Guard had the privilege and honor of providing an Honor Guard for the Wreath Ceremony held at Williams Creek Cemetery on West 96th Street. Clifton Morlan, Cristina Ownes and other volunteers did a great job of organizing and facilitating the Wreath Ceremony. I always love watching the Civil War Rifle Team provide the rifle volleys. District 11 Squad members Joy Koester, Wayne Yankovich, Larry Wyatt, Paul Norton and I volunteered for this Mission.

Yesterday 4 members of the District 11 Color Guard Presented and Posted the Colors at the Battleminds to Home Summit in Noblesville, IN. It was an honor and a privilege to be allowed to be the Color Guard for such an important and prestigious event.
