🏫 Healthy schools start with clean air.

Poor indoor air quality can affect student health, attendance, and even learning—but schools don’t have to tackle it alone. The American Lung Association’s Clean Air School Challenge offers free training, technical assistance, resources, and even funding opportunities to help K-12 schools create healthier learning environments.

Today we're recognizing which affects nearly 28 million people in the U.S. and nearly 5 million of those are children. Asthma triggers worsen and aggravate an individual’s asthma (EPA, 2022). IKE and HEC are working to address environmental asthma triggers across Indiana by advocating for clean air and improved asthma management practices.

As summer approaches, take a pause before using lawn fertilizer to consider it's impact on human and environmental health before applying. 🌱

Lawn fertilizer and the pesticides often bundled with them (such as in "w**d and feed" products) can significantly impact asthma by acting as both triggers for attacks and potential causes of the disease. By limiting lawn fertilizer use, families and neighbors can protect both their health and the health of our waterways.
