This week is Be Kind to Humankind Week! At Buckingham Foundation, we think kindness looks a lot like showing up, like the nonprofits working every day to keep families housed, fed, and supported, like the volunteers who give their time without being asked twice, and like a community that takes care of its own.

Reflecting on last month's Women's Build with Greater Indy Habitat for Humanity. For us, this is a hands-on reminder of what the Affordable Housing pillar we stand behind looks like beyond a grant check.

Affordable housing, community development, childhood hunger, the arts — the work Buckingham Foundation invests in doesn't always show results overnight.

But the families who find stable homes, the kids who don't go to bed hungry, and the communities that grow stronger over time, that's the shade others will get to sit under.
