We find ourselves, once again, trying to find the right words. We had to say goodbye to Sir Renegade (Rennie) on Friday. We often said he was a cat in his former life and had 29 lives. Rennie had heart issues, arthritis in his rear legs/hips/lower back, was having seizures periodically, but just kept fighting to live. He was 17 1/2 years old. He made it that long because of the wonderful care his foster mom, (Roberta Rice Decker) gave him. She watched his every move. She tried and tried to get his medications in him using all kinds of different things. But, the stubborn, old, Beagle refused. Rennie was also very picky as to what he would eat. Roberta cooked him scrambled eggs, chicken, pork chops, etc., just to get him to eat. Renegade lived his best life with his foster mom. We cannot say thank you enough to her! Renegade was sweet, gentle, and he had the softest fur on his head and ears. It was like cotton! He never met a stranger. Rennie did wonderful on visits to the senior communities. The highlight of his career was when we put him (at the staff members direction) on a bed bound ladies bed so she could pet him. All our other dogs loved him and most of all, his foster brother Kit. We love you Renegade! You are missed so much. Run free!!!! 💔🙏😢 ☁️

Our precious King crossed over into heaven Saturday night. 💔King had lost a lot of weight the last 6 months in spite of eating well. We took him to the vet multiple times and did bloodwork that was all pretty normal. But King had nasty, smelly stools so we thought he had IBD. He was hospitalized for a day and received IV fluids and IV antibiotics and went home with Prednisone and prescription food. The medications and food should have made his condition better. When it didn’t totally work, it was determined he had some sort of GI cancer. His Prednisone dose was increased to the highest dose and that kept him eating, but he still continued to lose more weight. He also had unexplained hair loss. King loved being in his foster home. He liked his doggie and kitty foster siblings. King’s favorite spot in the house was the bathroom sink. His foster parents were with him when he peacefully passed away. King was a sweet, kind, gentle soul. Everyone who met him, both furry and human, loved him. Rest easy now. We love you and miss you!!! ❤️

Meet sweet 13 year old Merlin! Merlin came to us with his brother, Cotton. Both their senior owners passed away leaving them behind with two sisters. The family did an excellent job getting them all up to date on vaccines and got Merlin ready to start his new life with us. Merlin is very sweet, shy, and scared right now. But he is already letting us pet him and he flips over for belly rubs. The family said his normal personality is: confident with a gentle affectionate side, he enjoys being near his people, and he’s a loyal companion. Merlin is truly a sweetheart and we can’t wait to see his full personality shine once he’s 💯 comfortable!

❤️ 💙🐾

Meet sweet Cotton! And yes, his hair is very soft. He is 16 years young! Cotton came to us with his brother, Merlin. Both their senior owners passed away leaving them behind with two sisters. The family did an excellent job getting them all up to date on vaccines and got Cotton ready to start his new life with us. Cotton is very sweet, shy, and scared right now. The family said his normal personality is: friendly and outgoing, eager to greet visitors, observant and aware of his surroundings, calm and steady once settled, naturally social and well-adjusted and does well with other cats. We have faith he will continue to get adjusted and then his bright light will shine! ❤️ 💙🐾

Sometimes we’re at a loss for words. We have been putting this off. We lost our sweet Buddy on Monday. He’s had neurological issues with his lower back and hips. We have been treating him for that for a while. But then he started to not want to eat or take his meds on a regular basis. We took him to the vet and his red blood cell count was very low. His body was still trying to make more but couldn’t keep up. The concern was a GI bleed (possibly a bleeding stomach ulcer) or some kind of cancer. We tried meds to help with the possible bleed. On Monday, he wasn’t acting himself. He refused to eat. Refused his meds. He started taking shallow breaths and his gums were white. We took him back to the vet, and upon ultrasound, he had a large mass in his abdomen and loose fluid. We didn’t have a choice but to say goodbye. Buddy was a funny, feisty, crotchety, old guy. He was Lucy’s best friend. They had been together since puppies. Buddy was a tolerant step brother to all his doggie friends and even to Bill the cat. We are sad. We are a little lost without him. The sanctuary doesn’t feel the same. Rest easy Buddy. You were loved so much by all of your sanctuary family. We know you are in heaven running the joint. We love you. We miss you. Buddy, you were one of a kind. 💔🙏😢
