Who Lions Are: We are a worldwide organization, with more than 1.45 million members, in at least 120 countries/territories supported by more than 46,000 clubs. Lions Club International (LCI) is the only service organization allowed in China at this time (10/2018).

LCI History: Lions was founded on June 7th, 1917 with leadership by Melvin Jones, Chicago businessman. -1920 First non-USA club formed in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. -1925 Helen Keller challenged Lions to become “knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness” at the LCI convention in Cedar Point, Ohio -1931 Independence Lions Club chartered -1957 Leo program created. -1968 Lions Club International Foundation establised -1987 Lions became thefirst major service club organization to admit women as members -1990 Lions lauch “SightFirst”
