Good morning! It is Mitch. A few months ago, I began a social media campaign for Humane H.E.L.P as my capstone project for my masters... Well, it is time to wrap up! As I close out this capstone project, I find myself reflecting on just how much this experience has meant to me.

Completing my Master’s degree is an accomplishment I am incredibly proud of, but this journey was about more than finishing a program or earning a degree. It challenged me, pushed me, and reminded me of what I am capable of, even during the moments when the finish line felt far away or when those negative feelings crept in.

I am especially grateful to Humane H.E.L.P. for trusting me with your social media throughout my capstone project. That trust meant more to me than I can fully put into words. Knowing that an organization whose mission I believe in was willing to give me the opportunity to lead, create, and represent its work gave me the confidence and power to keep going. Your encouragement, guidance, and belief in me became part of what carried me through this journey.

I am proud of the work we accomplished together, proud of the growth that came from this experience, and incredibly proud to say that I have passed my Master’s.

Thank you, Humane H.E.L.P., for being part of this chapter of my life and for giving me an opportunity I will always remember. As I close this capstone, I do so with a full heart, a tremendous sense of accomplishment, and deep gratitude for everyone who helped me reach this moment.

Animal welfare professionals don't face just one challenge—they face many, every single day.

We asked professionals in the field what they believe are the biggest challenges facing animal welfare today. While the answers varied, several common themes emerged.

Despite these challenges, animal welfare professionals continue showing up every day because they care deeply about the animals and the communities they serve.

The truth is, these aren't just shelter challenges—they're community challenges. When more people spay and neuter their pets, keep microchip information updated, adopt, foster, volunteer, and support local shelters, everyone benefits.
