The Denton Majors All Stars came up short against the South Baltimore Little League All Stars on Tuesday at West Salisbury Little League, falling by a score of 6-2.
Denton struck first in the opening inning with a base hit that drove in the game's first run. SBLL responded quickly in the bottom half, tying the game on a groundout and then taking the lead following a defensive miscue by Denton. In the third, Denton evened the score at 2-2 with a solo home run to center field by Miles Moczulski. However, SBLL regained control in the bottom of the inning with a grand slam that put them ahead for good.
On the mound, SBLL's pitcher went the distance, allowing just five hits and two runs over six innings while striking out six. Denton's starter pitched three innings, surrendering six runs—only one of which was earned—on four hits, while striking out three and issuing no walks.
Offensively, Denton saw hits from five different players and drove in two runs, one from the initial single in the first and the other from the third-inning homer. SBLL’s offense was highlighted by a grand slam and a strong showing from the heart of their lineup, which combined for multiple hits and runs batted in.
Despite the loss, Denton showed resilience early and continued to put the ball in play throughout the game.
Even though their journey is over, Denton Little League board members, families, fans and friends are SO proud of this team! They made it further than any other Majors All-Star team has in 26 years. They worked hard and remained poised through the season, representing District 6 and our community well. They have a lot to be proud of! ❤️🤍💙
