This year’s golf tournament was one for the books! We raised $234,000 directly to the Grant Hill Trauma Team, operated by Kids to Love. This team works to treat mental health in our community and within Kids to Love foster children. These funds really are used to better our community, thank you to everyone who supports our mission!

This week, our Smith Family Wellness Center Clinical Director, December, led a webinar through the ITR Training Institute for foster and adoptive families focused on understanding trauma in children in the foster care system.

One of the biggest things caregivers need to know is that difficult behaviors often come from difficult experiences. When parents understand the “why” behind those behaviors, they can respond in ways that help children feel safe, supported, and understood.

Trauma therapy is important, but healing also happens around the dinner table, during bedtime routines, and in everyday moments at home. Foster and adoptive parents carry a huge responsibility, and we’re grateful for every opportunity to help give them tools, encouragement, and support along the way.
