This Leadership Friday, we’re recognizing the leaders of our Vitals Station: Nicole Liang, Colton Rooper, and Nathanial Branscome!
These students have helped in performing routine screenings for hypertension, tachycardia, and other medical conditions at every MMO. When asked what the outreach meant to them, here’s what they had to say:
“MMO has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my medical school career! I love connecting with members of the community and providing them with services to better their health and wellness. We can truly make a difference in the lives of our patients. MMO is an amazing opportunity to hone my clinical skills too. I look forward to continuing my work with the clinic this year!“ - Nicole
“MMO has given me a chance to connect with and support people throughout the Huntington community on their health journeys. I think some of the most meaningful moments in medicine come from simply taking the time to listen to someone, understand what they are going through, and let them know that they are not alone. MMO gives me the opportunity to do that while giving back to the community I grew up in. More than anything, I hope to become the kind of physician who never loses sight of the person behind the patient, and I see MMO as an important part of learning how to do that.” - Colton
“MMO has been an invaluable experience for me as a medical student, as it is a window into our community that is so often overlooked by others. New and returning guests each month are extremely grateful for the services we provide, and so we have a renewed chance to learn about their lives in service to them. Many of them likely feel alienated due to varied situations, but during MMO it’s clear they feel recognized. As a leader of the vitals tent, I couldn’t be more satisfied with the service to my local community and learning about it more each month.” - Nathanial
