The hardcore scene has played a positive role in the lives of many. It’s been a space to create friendship, build connection, express frustration, joy, and every emotion in-between through music - it’s a scene that’s hard to put in a box and can be misunderstood if you’re looking at it from the outside.

Huntington Music Collective was an answer to something missing in our local community - an all-ages venue that provided a safe and supportive space for people to come together, build relationships, and express themselves freely. HMC launched their non-profit to bring that vision to life.

“Some Type Of Bright Light” is a mini documentary exploring the roots and mission of Huntington Music Collective. It’s also the return of Impact Stories - a documentary series highlighting the people & organizations making a difference across Appalachia.

Maybe you’ll visit a show, maybe you’ll have a new perspective on hardcore music, but regardless it's a good reminder of the power of connection with others.
