Amelea is a quirky eleven year-old with a dream:
1) Create entertaining books of her family travels
2) Recruit her girlfriends to help spread the word
3) Help fund children's charities with the proceeds from her book
Now girls everywhere can be a part of her team! In addition to her book, we're offering the opportunity to be part of an online community we're creating just for girls where you are
challenged to use your imagination, get involved, and find fun ways to help others! Our story:
Team Amelea started three years ago, when I began putting to paper my husband's tales of growing up in West Africa - stories of fun, adventure, and a very special member of his family —a chimpanzee named Lucy. It was also around that time that I was working with a friend on a fundraising campaign for a local charity. The organization was doing amazing work and making a difference in the lives of children throughout the state, and it occurred to me that my husband's stories could have a greater purpose—sales from a book of his stories could provide a viable source of funding for this worthy cause. As I started compiling the first book, the main character—Amelea—emerged, as did the vision for what this project could be. Moms and girls alike loved the story, and Amelea prompted their imaginations. "Is this just a book?" they would ask. "Or is it something more? Can you create a real life Team Amelea, and can my daughter and I help get it started?"
It became clear that girls and their moms were looking for a community and, for girls, Amelea tapped into the collective sentiment of, "Yes, someone does believe in us. We love that Amelea actively reaches out to us in the book and gives us the opportunity to be involved—to make a difference. We're ready to be game changers." Today, we're offering girls the opportunity to be a part of something greater. A place where their desire to make a difference is encouraged. A place where we make no apologies for encouraging them to dream BIG. We're excited to officially launch the Team Amelea crowd funding campaign on February 1st where we offer Amelea's first book in addition to a 2016 membership. We even offer a game changer t-shirt for those who want to celebrate their place on the team. Please join us in telling a friend or two or twenty. Together we want to set a new record for being the most backed crowd funding campaign EVER and raise an incredible amount of money for children's charities. How's that for dreaming BIG?!
