đź’“A Life Transformed Through Love and Opportunity
My name is Trinh, when I was only 11 years old, my life changed forever. After losing my father and being left without my mother’s care, I lived with my elderly grandmother, who worked tirelessly selling fruit on the street just so I could continue going to school. Even though life was hard, she loved me with all her heart.
But as the years passed, my grandmother became too weak to continue caring for me. With tears and hope for a better future, she brought me to Mary’s Home under GIBTK. I still remember how scared and quiet I was on my first days there. I carried sadness in my heart and rarely spoke to anyone.
Yet little by little, the home filled that emptiness inside me with love. The house parents, staff, and everyone around me cared for me not as a charity case, but as family. For the first time in a long time, I felt safe. I felt seen. I felt loved.
As I grew older and turned 18, I moved to Lighthouse Home, where I continued my journey into adulthood. Mary’s Home had given me healing and protection during my childhood, while Lighthouse became the place that prepared me for independence, responsibility, and dreams beyond what I once thought was possible. These two homes did not simply raise me , they shaped me with patience, guidance, and unconditional love.
Because of that love and support, I was able to pursue higher education and received a scholarship to study Digital Marketing at FPT Polytechnic in Da Nang. Along the way, I gained confidence, leadership skills, and opportunities to grow. I also had the chance to intern with GIBTK and join wheelchair distribution trips, where I witnessed how compassion can truly transform lives, just as it transformed mine.
Today, after graduating, I am working as a personal assistant for a foreign photographer. Sometimes I look back at the little girl who once arrived at Mary’s Home feeling broken and uncertain about her future. I could never have imagined the life I have today.
What changed my life was not only education or opportunity, it was love. The love of my grandmother, who sacrificed everything for me. The love I received at Mary’s Home and Lighthouse Home, where people chose to believe in me, guide me, and walk beside me through every stage of life.
And especially the love and care from father Robert, Jen , Lauren, and all of the sponsors who opened their hearts to support children like me. Because of their kindness, I was given not only a home, but also hope, dignity, and a future I never thought possible.
Because of that love, I found hope again. And because of that hope, I found my future.
