Orange County Animal Allies In 1987, we were granted 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and the Orange County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OCSPCA) was born.

Orange County Animal Allies is dedicated to saving animal lives and strengthening the human-animal bond by providing emergency financial support, educational and referral resources, and therapy programs. A Legacy Of Community Support
OC Animal Allies began in 1984 as a small group of dedicated animal lovers in Orange County coming together to form an organization dedicated to helping Orange County

residents and animals. In 2019, the organization changed its name to OC Animal Allies to reflect its unique position in the animal welfare space and to more accurately convey its mission and vision. With a continued focus on how best to serve the residents and animals in Orange County, our organization has developed innovative programs that focus on keeping animals out of shelters, and potentially euthanasia. Today, OC Animal Allies provides solutions for spay and neuter, emergency financial support, education and other resources. Our programs bring hope to Orange County pet owners who often have nowhere else to turn for help. OC Animal Allies is an independent, volunteer-driven, non-profit and is not affiliated with any other SPCA, including the ASPCA. We do not receive any funding from government or other agency and our operations are entirely funded by the generosity of our individual and corporate donors.

Even in the hardest of situations, animals find a way to remind us that healing is possible. For Thor’s family, that truth has never been more real. After a brain injury in the family turned their world upside down, Thor became their constant source of comfort, joy, and unconditional love on even the most difficult days.

We were honored to support Thor through our Animal Relief Fund, helping cover the cost of his neuter procedure so he could loving his family through it all. 🐾

Meet Gemma 🐾✨

This is the dog EVERYONE didn’t know that they needed! A gorgeous Great Pyrenees and English Cream Golden Retriever mix who joined our PAWS Teams just after her second birthday.

From her puppy days, Gemma had an instinctive awareness around people, especially children. When toddlers learning to walk would wobble up to greet her, she would quietly lower herself and go completely still. No cue needed and no excitement getting the better of her! Just steady, gentle presence. She never rattled. She never reacted. Simply showed up calm.

That’s exactly the kind of dog PAWS Teams are built around.

Gemma genuinely loves people and seeks connection everywhere she goes. She’ll lean in close, sit right beside you, and look at you like you’re the best thing that’s happened all day. In the spaces where our therapy teams visit, that kind of warmth isn’t a small thing. It’s everything.

We are so thankful for Gemma and her thoughtful and kind owner, Mary!

Last week, we wrapped up our six-week PAWS Canine Literacy session at Courreges Elementary in Fountain Valley with Mrs. Boer and Mrs. Coy’s third graders, and it was a beautiful send-off.

Over 9 rotations, every student got to read one-on-one to one of our certified therapy dogs — Amilyn, Oliver, Shealyn, Sami, Paulie, Liska, and Banks. Each student wrote a heartfelt thank-you note to their reading dog and volunteer and read it out loud. Our volunteers presented every reader with a certificate and a bookmark featuring photos of all the dogs.

Before we even walked through the doors, we got a reminder of why this program matters. One parent told us this was her daughter’s favorite day of the week to come to school. Another said her son is in 4th grade now but still talks about reading to the dogs. And the school secretary? Her child can’t wait to be in 3rd grade so she can do it too.

Thank you to our incredible volunteers and their four-legged partners for making reading feel like the best part of the week.

Every pet deserves a long, healthy, happy life, and that starts with spay and neuter.

Spaying and neutering can add years to a pet’s life by reducing the risk of certain cancers and infections. It’s one of the most important things a pet owner can do for their furry family member.

Suki’s family knows how irreplaceable she is. She greets them at the door, makes them laugh with her silly personality, and reminds them every day to enjoy life’s simplest moments. We’re so happy she’s now part of The Fixed and the Fabulous! 🐾💛

The science is in: Your furry family member is doing more than keeping you company.

Research from the American Heart Association and Harvard Health shows pet owners tend to have lower blood pressure than non-pet owners, and the act of petting a dog can trigger a measurable drop in just minutes. That’s not just comfort. That’s human health.

This is part of why we believe so deeply in the human-animal bond. Whether it’s a therapy dog visit through our PAWS program or a beloved pet at home, animals make us healthier.

For over a decade, Zoom Room Dog Training was more than a dog training gym. It was where PAWS therapy dog teams were born and refined through a beautiful community that they built. Last month, they closed their doors for the final time.

Since 2013, Zoom Room HB had been a cornerstone partner for our PAWS Therapy Dog Program, opening their doors for evaluations, hosting training sessions, partnering up for fundraisers, and welcoming our volunteers and their dogs as they took their first steps toward becoming certified therapy teams. From obedience classes to full therapy dog evaluations, countless PAWS dogs got their start on that familiar blue mat.

Zoom Room HB also served as a donation collection site for our No Empty Bowls pet food pantry, helping us gather food and supplies for seniors, low-income families, and community members who needed a little extra help keeping their pets fed and loved.

None of this would have been possible without Mel, Blaine, Vince, and the entire Zoom Room HB team. Their warmth, generosity, and genuine care for animals and community made them true partners in every sense of the word. They were colleagues, cheerleaders, and friends, and we are so grateful for every year we got to work alongside them.

To the Zoom Room HB family: thank you for 13 years of partnership, compassion, and community. The therapy dog teams you helped to get certified are still out there today, bringing comfort and joy to people across Orange County. And every bowl filled through No Empty Bowls carries a little bit of your generosity too.

You will be deeply missed. 🐾

FREE spay & neuter for your cat BUT spots are going FAST!

Sunday, June 14, is your chance to get your cat spayed or neutered at no cost. This includes an uncomplicated surgery as well as vaccines if you need them. Orange County Animal Allies is hosting a Domestic Cats (Only) Free Spay & Neuter Clinic in Santa Ana, and we don’t want you to miss it.

This clinic is made possible because of three incredible partners who believe every pet owner in our community deserves access to affordable animal care, no matter their zip code or their budget.

💛 Latino Alliance for Animal Care Foundation and North Figueroa Animal Hospital have long been a champion for underserved pet owners across Southern California, fighting to make spay/neuter accessible to every family that needs it. They bring the expertise and hands-on care that makes it all happen. Their team will be right there on June 14, delivering safe, high-quality surgical care.

🏛️ OC Supervisor Vicente Sarmiento continues to show up for the animals and families of the 2nd District. His support helps make free community clinics like this one possible.

Spaying and neutering is one of the most important things you can do for your cat’s long-term health, and for the thousands of cats and kittens in our community who need homes. When we prevent unwanted litters, we save lives.

📋 Registration is REQUIRED to secure your spot AND this clinic will sell out quickly. Don’t put it off and risk missing out.

Meet Homer, the newest member of The Fixed and the Furious! 🎉🐶

Homer came through surgery like a champ… even if he had some opinions about the cone afterward. 😂

His family says it best: “Homer means the world to our family. He’s brought so much love and he’s the perfect dog for us. We’re so grateful for your organization — thank you!”

Did you know a single unspayed female dog and her offspring can produce up to 67,000 puppies in just 6 years? Spaying and neutering is one of the most impactful things we can do to reduce pet overpopulation and keep more animals in loving homes.

If you’d like to help more families like Homer’s, visit the link (https://ocanimalallies.org/donate/) to donate or learn about our Animal Relief Fund.
