This weekend was a favorite event…the annual Mecklenburg County Council, Scouting America Cuboree! Held at Camp Grimes, scouts spent the weekend fishing, hiking, rock climbing, shooting BB guns, and even had a visit from a petting zoo! Though the weather was not ideal, scouts are always prepared and so they made the best of it!

What an amazing weekend! The Darlington Raceway held Scout Weekend, where scouts and their families could camp out in a special area just for them for two days and see all the racing action. Saturday featured the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, and Sunday featured the NASCAR Cup Series. They also were able to participate in Q&A sessions with drivers, Ty Dillon and Ross Chastain. The rest of the weekend was spent taking a track walk, visiting the museum at the track, the Darlington Raceway Hall of Winners, visiting the Fan Zone and just spending time together at the campsites. Truly, a wonderful time with our Cub Scout Pack 97 and Troop 97 friends.

This Sunday was busy for Pack 42 in addition to our annual Pinewood Derby it was also Scout Sunday today and Scouting for food weekend for both the Troop and Pack

The Pack and Troop Thank the Hopewell Presbyterian Church for all of your support!

Scouting for food is a annual food drive that is nationally promoted. This year was a struggle due to all of the winter weather the last two weeks. Regardless, our Cub and Boy Scouts persevered and still delivered about a pick up truck full of donated food to the Nourishup Food Bank at Huntersville United Methodist Church. Thank you to all that donated!

Scout Sunday was also a great success with representatives from the Troop and Pack participating in service! Great job Scouts!
Troop 42’s Senior Patrol Leader Declan Senter delivered a great recap speech this year about how the past year related to the 12 points of the scout law!

Thanks to all of our Adult volunteers as well for all of the help this weekend!
