Today we had the pleasure of speaking to Cole, who is a sophomore at Tabor College studying science (and is also on the football team).
What's been the best thing about Tabor College so far for Cole?
'The people. Everyone here is kind, and they care about each other. That's what makes Tabor great. That's why I enjoy it. That's why I'll probably stay here all four years!'.
Cole's biggest challenge so far at Tabor College...
'Adjusting to the academic workload, definitely. When I got here, realized I couldn't slack off. Because I'm playing football, it is definitely hard balancing study and sport.'
Cole's advice to this year's college freshmen?
'I wish I would have listened to this advice more... Get ahead on your work! Yes, take the time to have fun and meet people, because that's what it's about. The people that are going to get you through college are the people you meet on the very first day. Definitely do not slack off. College is fun! Have fun! But you're also a student. You've got to take care of business.'
Why should this year's seniors apply for the Humboldt Promise?
'It's a HUGE help. Some of my buddies don't have this kind of scholarship and they struggle with money and their academics. Not having to stress about money makes life so much easier. You can take more time to focus on your academics and have time with your friends, and still have time to rest.'
