Folks in Ottawa County, VOTE NO This coming Tuesday on the county wide millage. - It's a 30 year mortgage on our properties wrapped up in a "do it for the kids" wrapping. Last year, the State took its 11 Billion dollar share of the COVID relief funds and instead of paying for programs like the one their proposing here, they rather gave everyone in the government a bonus "AFTER" raising our taxes by the rate of inflation instead of sticking with the multiplication factor when we needed it most. Then to top it all off, Governor Whitmer signs legislation to give every employee in government including her an exemption on their income taxes (Pension tax) instead of paying their fair share. The businesses and families have no protection from the 9 mill exemption, and they are now going out of business left and right. This is devastating Michigan and instead of being transparent and running this millage in the General elections, they running it in the mid term when nobody expects it. It's not about the kids, this is a bunch of pro-board benefactors trying to pull the wool over the eyes of parents who need to house those children their talking about and feed them. I will literally die of old age before this thing is paid off. It's not going to help families, it's going to first tax them out of their jobs and when they loose their income and can't afford to no longer paythis tax along with all the other property taxes, it will take there homes. I could not believe it when I read the language of the ballot. It's not being truthful nor looking out for anyone but those who are collecting it for purposes other than what they allege it's for. Don't be fooled. I VOTED NO!!!
