🧩 Let’s Build Our Community Together!

One of the most powerful things we can do as a community is share what we’ve found along the way. Sometimes finding the right activity, resource, business, or organization can make a huge difference for a family—and what works for one family might be exactly what another family has been looking for.

So today, we want to hear from YOU!

✨ What is one resource, activity, business, organization, or community program in our area that you think every family should know about?

Maybe it’s a favorite place to take your child, a business that is especially welcoming and inclusive, a local therapist or provider, an organization that offers support, or an activity your family loves.

Drop it in the comments and tell us why you recommend it! 👇

Back-to-School Is Coming (or here)— Let’s Celebrate It Forward! ❤️

As we get ready for a new school year, many of us are cleaning out sensory bins, playrooms, and closets and finding things our kids have outgrown or no longer use.

But what may be “done” for your child could be exactly what another child needs!

If you have gently used items that have helped support your autistic child or child with sensory needs, consider passing them along through our Celebrate It Forward Library. Email us at [email protected]

Maybe it’s:

🎧 Noise-canceling headphones
🧸 Sensory toys or fidgets
🖍️ Visual supports or learning tools
🪑 Helpful seating or calming tools
✨ Other items that have made everyday life a little easier

Our goal is simple: help families share resources with other families who can use them.

And you never know—you might find something in our library that would be a great fit for your child, too!

So while you're doing your back-to-school clean-out, don't forget to Celebrate It Forward! ❤️

Have something your child has outgrown? We’d love to add it to our library and help it find a new home.

Check out Celebrate It Forward

One family’s “we don’t need this anymore” might be another family’s “this is exactly what we needed.”

💛 As a new school year begins, let's take the next 3 minutes to talk about what inclusion really means.

Every child walks into a classroom carrying their own unique combination of strengths, challenges, interests, communication styles and ways of connecting with others.

Some children may need more support in certain areas. Others may have strengths that surprise us and things they can teach us. Some may communicate with spoken words, while others communicate in different ways. Some may love being part of a big group, while others feel most comfortable connecting in quieter or different ways.

None of these differences make someone less deserving of friendship, respect or belonging.

Inclusion isn't about asking every child to participate in exactly the same way. It's about creating spaces where children can be themselves, connect in ways that feel comfortable, and know that there is a place for them.

And here's something we hope every child remembers:

*You can learn from someone who is different from you.
*You can discover a new way to play.
*A new way to solve a problem.
*A new interest.
*A new perspective.
*A new kind of friendship.

We don't need to be the same to appreciate each other.

So as we head back to school, let's teach our children not just to notice difference but to value them.

Let's raise kids who make room.
Kids who are curious instead of judgmental.
Kids who recognize strengths instead of focusing only on challenges.
Kids who understand that friendship doesn't require someone to change who they are.

Because every child deserves to walk into school knowing:
"There is a place for me here." 💛

And when we make that true for one another, everyone gets the chance to belong.

🌟 Spectrum Strong Community Corner: Business of the Month 🌟
Each month, we love highlighting a local business or organization that is making a meaningful difference for families in our community. 💙
This month, we’re excited to feature Walk On Therapeutic Riding Programs, Inc.Walk On Therapeutic Riding Programs! 🐴
Walk On provides individualized therapeutic riding and equine-assisted activities for children and adults with physical, developmental, social, and emotional disabilities. Through the connection between horse and rider, participants have opportunities to build confidence, develop strength and coordination, work toward new goals, and experience the joy and connection that comes from working with horses.
A huge part of what makes Walk On so special is the incredible people who make these experiences possible. Under the direction of Ken, Walk On is supported by dedicated staff and many amazing volunteers who serve as horse leaders and sidewalkers, helping riders feel safe, supported, and successful throughout their experience.
Walk On is more than just riding. It’s a place where riders, horses, and volunteers come together to help individuals grow in confidence, independence, and connection while having fun along the way.
Located in River Falls, Wisconsin, Walk On Therapeutic Riding Programs is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making equine experiences accessible to individuals with disabilities.
🐴 Don’t miss their upcoming Family Event!
📅 Saturday, September 19
⏰ 11 AM–1 PM
📍 1469 County Road J, River Falls, WI 54022
