Paint the Town Purple for Polio π
Rotaryβs message of hope, compassion, and a world free from polio.
Purple is more than a color. When we paint our town purple for polio, we shine a light on a disease that has affected children and families around the world, and we show our community that Rotary is committed to protecting future generations.
Polio is important because every child deserves the chance to grow up healthy, walk, run, play, and live without the fear of a disease that can cause lifelong paralysis. Although polio has been eliminated from most of the world, it has not yet been eradicated. As long as it exists anywhere, children everywhere remain at risk.
Rotary International has made the fight against polio one of its signature humanitarian missions, working with global partners to support vaccination, protect children, and help stop the spread of this preventable disease.
When we paint the town purple, we are doing more than decorating buildings, businesses, and storefronts. We are making a promise: we will not forget the children who need us, and we will not stop until polio is gone from the world.
π What the purple ribbon means
* Purple represents awareness β helping people understand that polio is still a threat.
* Purple represents remembrance β honoring those whose lives have been changed by polio.
* Purple represents hope β believing that the next generation can live in a world without this disease.
* Purple represents action β reminding everyone that vaccination, education, and continued support matter.
A meaningful message to share with your Rotary club or community
π PAINT THE TOWN PURPLE FOR POLIO β BECAUSE EVERY CHILD MATTERS! π
This October, letβs paint our town purple and let the world know that Rotaryβs fight against polio is not over.
Behind every vaccination is a child whose future is worth protecting. Behind every purple light is a message of hope. And behind every Rotarian is a commitment to making a difference in the lives of people we may never meet, but whose lives we can help change forever.
Polio is a preventable disease, yet it can steal a childβs ability to walk and leave families facing a lifetime of challenges. We have come so far, but we cannot stop now. Until polio is eradicated everywhere, our work is not finished.
When you see purple shining throughout our town, remember what it stands for: compassion, courage, commitment, and the power of people coming together for a cause greater than themselves.
Rotary has helped bring the world closer to ending polio. Now, letβs keep the promise. Letβs raise awareness, support vaccination, and inspire our community to join us.
π Paint the town purple. Protect every child. Help make polio history.
Rotaryβs promise is simple: We will keep going until the world is free from polio.
And one thought to carry with you: We paint our town purple today so that children everywhere can have a brighter, healthier tomorrow.
