Veterans Memorial 150 - VM150

Veterans Memorial 150 - VM150 Veterans Memorial 150 will be held annually on Memorial Weekend to benefit a worthy non-profit that Runners or teams can pick their point to start and finish.

The Run:
This event will be a 150 mile run across the state of Michigan over Memorial Weekend. The run will start on the beach at Lake Michigan in Ludington, and end at the Saginaw Bay in Essexville. Leg maps and pace chart are found in the "Route" section of this page. Basic food and drink will be provided at 17 aid stations/relay stops which will be staged approximately every 5-10 miles staffed

by volunteers. Pending volunteer drivers, transportation provided back to your vehicle along the route. We envision a group run, but route maps are provided for those that wish to run ahead.

Danny served his country with honor in the U.S. Air Force from 2004 to 2012, including deployments to Saudi Arabia and Iraq. During his service, he suffered a devastating back injury. This injury plagued him while he continued to work through the end of his deployment working security in Italy.
At 28, Danny had to rebuild his life from the ground up. Chronic pain led to years on medication and frequent visits to the VA. Holding a steady job was difficult, and the loss of his beloved Great Dane made an already challenging time even harder.
Then Lucy came into his life.
Danny adopted Lucy, a spirited Doberman. With a referral to Blue Star Service Dogs, Danny and Lucy began a year-long journey together—training, learning, and building a partnership.
Today, Lucy is not just a service dog—she is Danny’s lifeline. She provides the physical support he needs to navigate daily life and the confidence to re-engage with the world. As Danny says about Blue Star, “They literally gave me my life back.”
Because of Lucy and the support of Blue Star Service Dogs, Danny is off prescription pain medication. He’s regained independence, confidence, and the ability to enjoy everyday moments many of us take for granted.
Blue Star stands by their veterans every step of the way—offering ongoing training, guidance, and advocacy. When Danny once faced barriers in a restaurant due to misconceptions about service animals, Blue Star stepped in to educate and ensure his rights were respected.
Now, Danny travels with confidence, knowing Lucy is by his side—and that Blue Star Service Dogs will always have his back.

Your donation can help provide life-changing service dogs to veterans who need them most.
Please consider giving today.
