Local 5546 Out in the Community!

Today, Local 5546 members staffed the ladder truck to participate in the Truck or Treat event hosted by Howell Recreation. The turnout was absolutely amazing! Our members handed out over 1,000 pieces of candy in just two hours!

Our members also assisted with safety by providing traffic blockers for the Howell Headless Horsemen 1-Mile and 5K races, working alongside the Howell City Police Department to help keep participants safe.

A huge thank you to our members for their continued dedication to serving our community, staying involved, and helping make these events a success. We’re proud to have members who go above and beyond to be an active part of the community we serve!

Local 5546 is proud to be part of the Howell community!

The members of Howell Area Professional Firefighters Local 5546 extend our deepest condolences to Durham Firefighters Local 668, the Durham Fire Department, and the family and friends of fallen Firefighter Andrew Brokes.

Firefighter Brokes lost his life in the line of duty when a structural collapse trapped him and fellow firefighters while operating inside a burning building. Two other firefighters were injured and transported to Duke University Hospital.

Our hearts are with Firefighter Brokes’s loved ones and his fire service family during this devastating time. We also wish the injured firefighters a full and speedy recovery.

We stand with our brothers and sisters in Durham as they mourn this tremendous loss.

Rest easy, Brother. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001—a day that forever changed our nation.

The members of Howell Area Professional Firefighters Local 5546 honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost, including the 343 FDNY firefighters who gave their lives while working to save others and nearly 810 firefighters who have lost their lives since. We remember their courage, their sacrifice, and the families and fellow firefighters who have carried their loss every day since.

We also honor the first responders, recovery workers, and survivors who have since passed away from 9/11-related illnesses, and those who continue to face those battles today.

Behind every name is a person, a family, and a story that deserves to be remembered. As we serve our community, we carry the memory of those who answered the call that morning and never returned home.

To those we lost and those who carry on in their memory: we will never forget. 🇺🇸
