Today, the members of Southard Fire Department #1 would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all the mothers, wives, grandmothers, and mother figures who support us each and every day.

To our wives and mothers—thank you for your endless love, strength, patience, and sacrifice. Your support behind the scenes allows us to answer the call and serve our community with pride. Whether it’s the late nights, missed holidays, or unpredictable calls, you are always there standing beside us.

Today we celebrate you and all that you do for our families, our department, and our community.

Today, Southard Fire Department #1 – District 3 proudly recognizes and honors the brave men and women of the fire service—both here in Howell Township and around the world. 🌎🔥

International Firefighters Day is a time to reflect on the courage, dedication, and sacrifice that firefighters demonstrate every single day. Whether it’s answering the call in the middle of the night, standing ready during emergencies, or training to protect our community, their commitment never wavers.

We should also take a moment to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Their bravery will never be forgotten. ❤️

To our members—past and present—thank you for your unwavering service and your strength. You are the backbone of our department and a true example of what it means to serve with pride.

Southard Fire Department #1, District 3, would like to recognize and thank Firefighter Dave Giordano for an incredible 22 years of dedicated service to the career staff.

Prior to the start of his final tour, Dave answered one more call—responding to a second alarm structure fire. Fittingly, it would become his last working fire. The attached photo captures Dave doing what he has done for over two decades: serving with courage, professionalism, and unwavering commitment.

Throughout his career, Dave has exemplified what it truly means to be a firefighter. His dedication to the job, his brothers and sisters, and the community has made a lasting impact that will not be forgotten.

On behalf of Southard Fire Department #1, District 3, we extend our deepest gratitude for your years of service, sacrifice, and leadership.

Dave, thank you for always answering the call.

Today marks Firefighter Giordano, of the Howell Township Shop, final shift before retirement, concluding 22 years of service.

Prior to the start of the tour, members were dispatched to a second alarm structure fire. Attached is a photo capturing him operating at what will be his last working structure fire.
