🤍🐾🤎 Bogey in Mountain, WI is safe! 🤎🐾🤍
Bogey went missing on January 31 while visiting Bear Paw Scout Camp. Bogey’s owner was adjusting his mittens when Bogey’s leash slipped from his hand and Bogey took off. They searched all night Friday and had a drone up until 1am Saturday with no sign of Bogey. The family continued searching Saturday and gave the drone another try; again, no sightings. On Sunday Bogey’s family drove back to their home in Minnesota.
On Monday, February 3 Bogey’s owner reached out to see if we could be of any assistance. The family planned to return to Mountain on Tuesday, February 4, so we arranged to meet up with signs and flyers. Bogey’s family spent the day Tuesday placing road signs and flyering mailboxes, but no sightings came in.
Wednesday, February 5 was another uneventful day, but our team remained hopeful. When Bogey went missing, he was wearing a collar with ID, a harness and a long tracking lead. If, by chance, he was caught on something it may take him awhile to free himself. Also, there is a resident ranger who lives on the property, but this was one of the rare times the ranger was away for a couple of days. Nobody was at the camp to really see Bogey.
On Thursday, February 6 Bogey’s owner received a voicemail. The caller identified himself as a FedEx driver. He said he was making a delivery at Bear Paw Scout Camp. He returned to his truck after delivering a package and Bogey was in it. The FedEx driver explained that he gave Bogey a few biscuits, and then put him outside of the truck; he thought Bogey belonged to someone at the campsite. When he started to drive away Bogey began to run after him, so he turned around and picked him up. He drove Bogey to his next delivery home and asked if he had their dog. They said no, but they knew of one missing as they had seen the many signs and flyers. Bogey had lost his harness and lead, but was still wearing his collar which had tags with his name and number. The two contacted Bogey’s owner and the homeowner kept Bogey safe until his family was able to make it back to Mountain, Wisconsin.
Signs and flyers once again proved effective. They are crucial in getting the word out that a dog is missing and someone is looking for it. They are a visual reminder to people in the area to be on the lookout for the missing dog. Bogey’s collar with ID was also key. A collar and ID signify a dog has a home and a family and Bogey’s family sure did miss him. Welcome home smart boy!
