Karla Gilbride was confirmed yesterday, October 17, 2023, by the U.S. Senate as General Counsel for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

Ms. Gilbride is so far the only blind attorney to win a case before the United States Supreme Court, which was decided unanimously. She also won the Orozco v. Garland case in 2023, which set a precedent affirming the right of federal employees with disabilities to sue their employers for violations of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. We celebrate the appointment of a blind person to leadership in a federal agency.

We appreciate President Biden and his administration for nominating Ms. Gilbride, and the United States Senate for confirming her to this prestigious position.
