🚨 Texas Shelters Need Your Help🚨

The New World Screwworm outbreak is creating an unexpected crisis for animal shelters and rescues across Texas.

As transports to other states are delayed or halted, animals are remaining in shelters longer. This means:

🐾 Higher boarding and care costs

🐾 More crowded shelters

🐾 Fewer open spaces for dogs and cats still waiting for rescue

🐾 Increased strain on already limited rescue resources

Every day an animal must stay longer is another day of food, housing, medical care, and staffing costs. More importantly, it can mean one less space available for an animal in immediate need.

🎉🐾 AFTER BEING PULLED FROM BARC JUST YESTERDAY, Bubbles is GOING HOME to Kansas!!! 🏡💖

Sweet Bubbles, a beautiful cat we just rescued from BARC, has already beaten the odds and is now headed toward her forever home in Kansas. 🥹❤️

Rosie is also featured in the video alongside her, sharing in this happy moment.

Bubbles came from one of the most overwhelmed municipal shelter systems, and we were able to step in just in time and give her a chance.

BARC continues to face extreme overcrowding and high euthanasia pressure, making every life saved urgent and meaningful.

This is why fosters, volunteers, transport help, and supporters matter so much — they make outcomes like this possible.

Today, one tiny life changed forever. 💜

Bubbles was sitting on the euthanasia list at BARC— just another innocent kitten caught in the overwhelming stray animal crisis our communities are facing every single day.

But tomorrow, Bubbles starts her new life in Kansas. A life where she will know safety, love, warmth, and what it truly means to be wanted.

For every happy ending like this, there are still countless dogs and cats fighting to survive on the streets, filling overcrowded shelters faster than rescues can save them. The stray population crisis is real, heartbreaking, and growing. Rescues cannot do it alone.

Tonight, though, we celebrate loved still changes the world.
And for Bubbles, the story doesn’t end at a shelter kennel — it begins with hope. 🫧🐾

🥶❄️ **Cold Front Coming — Bring Animals Inside & Be Prepared** ❄️🥶

A cold front is moving into Houston, and now is the time to act. **All animals should be brought inside whenever possible.** Dogs, cats, and small animals are not meant to be left outside in cold temperatures — even short exposure can be dangerous.

**What you can do now:**

**Bring animals indoors**
• Keep pets inside the home, garage, or a warm enclosed space
• Provide warm bedding and keep them away from drafts
• Check heating sources and cords for safety

**For animals that cannot come indoors (such as horses or livestock):**
• Provide sturdy shelter from wind and rain
• Use dry bedding like straw for insulation
• Ensure constant access to unfrozen water
• Increase feed to help maintain body heat

Cold weather can be life-threatening, especially for puppies, seniors, short-haired animals, and cats. A little preparation goes a long way in saving lives.
